Job Description

The purpose of this role is to provide technical support and day-to-day administration for Data Centre Operations and end-user computing environments.

This encompasses Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, virtualisation platforms, local and network storage, and network infrastructure. The role includes responsibility for OS and application patch management, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Intune endpoint management, Microsoft 365 application administration, and backup and recovery operations.

Data Centre functions include the racking, cabling, and decommissioning of hardware equipment, coordination and support of physical infrastructure, and accurate asset documentation and lifecycle management.

  • Document installation and configuration standards for Windows and Linux environments
  • Perform capacity management and planning to ensure scalability and availability of the environment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, configuration and operational problems in a timely manner
  • Maintain Windows and Linux environments through practical and structured maintenance plans
  • Ensure services and data across all environments are backed up, monitored and fully restorable
  • Test, plan and deploy hardware, firmware and operating system patches across Windows and Linux platforms
  • Test, plan, deploy and manage operating system upgrades across the server environment
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune and Microsoft 365 applications as part of day-to-day operations
  • Manage endpoint compliance, device policies and application deployments via Microsoft Intune
  • Support the administration and maintenance of identity, access and security policies within Microsoft Entra ID
  • Work with senior engineers to facilitate the analysis and resolution of complex technical issues
  • Participate in the engineering and maintenance of a secure operations environment and delivery of IT projects
  • Follow and enforce established change management processes in alignment with ITIL best practices
  • Ensure systems administration tasks and documentation are kept up to date in compliance with operational governance requirements
  • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery infrastructure planning, building and testing
  • Support Data Centre operations including racking, cabling, decommissioning and accurate asset documentation
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes, standards and documentation
  • Minimum 2–3 years in a technical role covering implementation and maintenance of enterprise systems and infrastructure
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating system administration
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu or similar distributions)
  • Good working knowledge of server hardware platforms, hypervisors, networking and storage infrastructure
  • Experience with virtualisation platforms
  • Hands-on experience with installation, upgrades and patching of server hardware, platform software and third-party applications
  • Experience with vulnerability identification and remediation across enterprise environments
  • Experience administering Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) including user lifecycle management, RBAC, conditional access and SSO configuration
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune for device enrolment, compliance policy management and application deployment
  • Experience managing the Microsoft 365 suite including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive and licensing administration
  • Core understanding of data backup solutions, restore procedures and disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Familiarity with enterprise backup tools such as Veeam or Commvault advantageous
  • Experience using enterprise monitoring tools to proactively manage system health and performance
  • Ability to troubleshoot, performance tune and optimise enterprise systems and infrastructure
  • Exposure to Data Centre operations including racking, cabling, decommissioning and asset documentation
