We are seeking a highly experienced System Administrator (System Administrator, Senior)
to support the U.S. Army Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Ft Leavenworth KS.
As a systems administrator on our team, you’ll be the backbone supporting JLCCTC, ARCHER, and System technicians. You’ll design, integrate, and maintain the infrastructure that powers large-scale, computer-based training exercises—ensuring that constructive simulations and After Action Review tools run smoothly for commanders and battle staffs.
You will lead the administration of servers, networks, virtualization platforms, and storage systems that underpin the Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability and ARCHER After Action Review environments. Your role bridges technical support, architecture planning, and security compliance, enabling seamless integration of Army Mission Command Information Systems into global training events.
U.S. Army Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). The JTT Lead ensures accurate representation of personnel and training scenarios to support Warfighter Exercises (WFX) and other MCTP-directed training events. This position directly supports MCTP’s mission to train Division through Corps-level headquarters in the art and science of mission command.
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture & Integration •
Plan and implement scalable server, storage, and network architectures to support JLCCTC and ARCHER simulations •
Integrate Mission Command Information Systems (MCiS) stimulation capabilities into distributed exercise networks
Infrastructure Management •
Administer Windows and Linux server farms, VMware/Hyper-V clusters, SAN/NAS storage, and redundant network fabrics •
Configure and maintain virtualization, backup/recovery solutions, and high-availability services
Technical Support & Team Leadership •
Oversee technical support specialists, JLCCTC, and ARCHER technicians; provide tier-III escalation for complex incidents •
Supervise daily operations, mentor junior administrators, and coordinate hardware/software deployments
Security & Compliance •
Apply DoD security policies, DISA STIGs, and patch management across all systems •
Enforce account management, role-based access control, and continuous monitoring for DoDM 8140 compliance
Configuration & Change Management •
Maintain configuration baselines, version control, and documentation for all infrastructure components •
Lead change control boards, schedule updates, and validate system integrity post-deployment
Exercise & Training Support •
Collaborate with exercise planners to stage environments, conduct pre-exercise validation tests, and troubleshoot in real time •
Develop training materials and conduct workshops on system administration best practices for simulation support teams
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Meet DoDM 8140 qualifications with primary DoD Cyber Work Force (DCWF) role of Technical Support Specialist and secondary roles of System Administrator and Product Support Manager at tier, Intermediate
Three (3) years of experience with Military training and training support
Three (e) years of experience in integrating training environments, planning architectures, and stimulation of Army Mission Command Information Systems (MCiS) in support of unit training events and distributed exercises
Two (2) years of experience in performing system enhancements and installing software updates
Requires a Secret clearance
This position may require access to restricted facilities. Due to the nature of work performed within those facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
The likely salary range for this position is $77,350 - $104,650. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
