Description of Work

Recruitment Range: $81,504 - $94,000

The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act.

This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work. Any telework will be under the conditions of the state Teleworking Program Policy and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time in the employer's sole discretion.

The Enterprise Endpoint Management Operations unit is seeking a Systems Administrator II to provide Tier 3 systems administration, technical implementation, engineering, escalation support, and operational support for enterprise endpoint management and security services. The position supports Windows and Apple endpoint platforms, operating system management, cloud PC environments, endpoint security technologies, identity and device management services, and enterprise management applications supporting statewide agencies, state government entities, and mission-critical operations. This position provides hands-on technical administration and engineering of enterprise endpoint management and security platforms, with responsibility for configuration, integration, automation, monitoring, security controls, compliance, vulnerability remediation, and complex technical problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 3 technical administration, engineering, escalation, and problem-resolution support for complex endpoint management, endpoint security, systems administration, compliance, application deployment, cloud PC, and operating system issues.
  • Administer, engineer, configure, integrate, optimize, and troubleshoot Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, BitLocker, Microsoft Autopilot, Windows 365 Cloud PCs, Entra ID, Apple device management, MDM/MAM, Tanium, CrowdStrike, BeyondTrust Remote Support, and related enterprise endpoint management and security platforms.
  • Develop and implement endpoint configurations, security policies, compliance controls, automation, platform integrations, monitoring capabilities, and operational improvements across enterprise endpoint management and security technologies.
  • Administer and technically implement Windows and Apple endpoint environments, including operating system deployment, security patching, upgrades, configuration management, compliance enforcement, security hardening, and lifecycle support.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripting, automation workflows, deployment procedures, configuration standards, technical documentation, and operational processes that improve endpoint security, reliability, and administrative efficiency.
  • Perform enterprise platform monitoring, advanced troubleshooting, software deployment, performance analysis, vulnerability remediation, security hardening, compliance validation, endpoint health management, and technical root-cause analysis.
  • Support enterprise endpoint security operations through implementation and maintenance of security baselines, endpoint protection controls, encryption, compliance policies, vulnerability remediation, and other security requirements established for statewide enterprise environments.
  • Provide technical administration and implementation support for enterprise projects involving endpoint management, endpoint security, operating system deployments and upgrades, mobility, compliance, automation, integrations, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Coordinate testing, implementation activities, technical resources, deployment schedules, operational readiness, risks, dependencies, and project deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, knowledge transfer, and escalation support to Tier 2 Service Support and agency technical staff.

About the Division:

The Enterprise Endpoint Management team is part of NCDIT Enterprise Operations and provides centralized enterprise endpoint management, engineering, security, and technical support services. The unit supports Windows and Apple endpoint environments, endpoint security, cloud and hybrid computing environments, enterprise endpoint management platforms, and related operational services for participating statewide agencies and entities. The team provides Tier 3 technical administration, engineering, security, integration, automation, and escalation support for enterprise endpoint services that enable secure, reliable, standardized, and compliant computing operations across statewide government environments.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience administering, configuring, integrating, monitoring, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise endpoint management and endpoint security platforms in a large-scale environment, including Microsoft Intune and related endpoint management technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise endpoint technologies including Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, BitLocker, Microsoft Autopilot, Windows 365 Cloud PCs, Entra ID, Apple device management, MDM/MAM, Tanium, CrowdStrike, and BeyondTrust Remote Support.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve highly complex endpoint management, operating system, application deployment, cloud PC, compliance, and endpoint security issues in an enterprise environment, including analysis of root cause and implementation of corrective actions.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience in systems software programming;

or

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive experience in systems software programming; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
