emergiTEL is hiring a Systems Administrator for our client in the government / public sector industry. This is a Contract role.
Compensation: $48.00 – $60.00 per hour (T4)
Location: New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

About the Role

• Join a growing Information Technology department supporting critical municipal systems.
• Support Microsoft 365 and hybrid cloud environments, along with on‑premise virtualization, server, and storage infrastructure.
• Maintain, enhance, and secure enterprise systems while contributing to ongoing IT projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain high availability, security, and performance of server, storage, Microsoft, and cloud infrastructure.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance for Microsoft 365 and cloud environments.
• Administer and support hybrid cloud and on‑premise systems, including virtualization platforms.
• Ensure cybersecurity controls and privileged account management practices are implemented and followed.
• Evaluate opportunities for infrastructure improvements and design new technical solutions.
• Perform system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities.
• Support day‑to‑day operations while participating in project‑based initiatives.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver effective system solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a 2‑year Diploma of Technology in Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator in a complex, multi‑site environment supporting 700+ users.
• ITIL Foundation certification considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with staff at all organizational levels.
• Demonstrated technical versatility, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learning.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs for physical hardware installation as required.
• Ability to obtain and pass a BC Police Information Check (PIC).
