/Objective:
​​The Systems Administrator is responsible for the reliable operation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the organization’s on premises and cloud infrastructure. This role oversees the provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and optimization of servers, networks, and core enterprise systems to ensure a secure and highly available computing environment. The Systems Administrator provides technical expertise and support across internal initiatives, assisting with planning, implementation, and ongoing maintenance activities. This position also collaborates with internal technical teams to support organizational needs, contribute to incident response and system hardening efforts, and stay current with modern infrastructure practices and emerging technologies to strengthen the organization's technical foundation.​

Essential Functions

1. Infrastructure and Systems Management
◦ Administer and support all on-premises and hybrid virtualization environments.
◦ Administer and support all on-premises and hybrid server, directory services, and identity management systems.
◦ Manage and maintain core infrastructure platforms, including messaging, monitoring, device management, automation, and other enterprise tools.
◦ Ensure reliability and availability of critical systems by performing configuration, troubleshooting, lifecycle management, and operational oversight across assigned technologies.
2. Secondary Systems Support
◦ Provide backup support for major business and security platforms, assisting with configuration, troubleshooting, integrations, and general administration when needed across productivity, finance, cybersecurity, storage, backup, and networking systems.
3. Patch and Vulnerability Management
◦ Apply regular operating system patches, security updates, and version upgrades for Windows, macOS, and Linux devices, as well as related administrative tools and utilities.
◦ Review internal vulnerability scans as requested by Information Security and support remediation efforts by providing tactical fixed and strategic recommendations
4. Performance and Resource Optimization
◦ Conduct ongoing performance tuning and capacity planning for physical and virtual server environments.
◦ Configure and optimize system resources such as CPU, memory, storage, and other infrastructure components to maintain efficient operation.
5. Monitoring & Issue Resolution
◦ Maintain and enhance monitoring platforms to ensure comprehensive visibility into system health, services, and performance.
◦ Review alerts and reports, addressing issues both reactively and proactively at tactical and strategic levels.
6. Helpdesk Escalation & Training
◦ Serve as an escalation point for Helpdesk staff, providing advanced troubleshooting support.
◦ Train Helpdesk personnel on new systems, processes, and technologies to build organizational knowledge and readiness.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other:
• 3–5 years of hands-on technical experience, including LAN/WAN networking operations and the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, servers, and related infrastructure.
a. Knowledge of core network services (DNS, DHCP, routing), server/client architecture, and common enterprise applications.
b. Familiarity with SAN and virtual networking technologies.
c. Experience administering virtualization platforms, including maintaining and upgrading current releases.
d. Active Directory and Domain Services administration, including Microsoft Entra.
e. Experience using and supporting AI platforms, particularly Microsoft Copilot.
f. Experience performing server and workstation patching, including evaluation and deployment of security and bug fix updates.
g. Supporting and maintaining infrastructure and security monitoring tools, including configuring and tuning alerts.
h. Experience administering SaaS products in an enterprise environment.
i. Ability to successfully engage with a wide range of business and technical staff across the Timberwolves, Lynx, Iowa Wolves, Basketball Operations, and Target Center as needed.
j. Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, Network+, VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• High initiative and self-direction, with a proactive approach to identifying needs and driving solutions.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure, particularly during live events, game operations, or time sensitive situations.
• Strong teamwork skills, contributing positively to a collaborative technical environment.
• Able to respond to emergencies as needed. May be required for after-hours projects and on-call duty.
• Able to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience with system administration and support with increasing levels of responsibility.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is strongly preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility, if any: ​This position does not have supervisory responsibility​.

Work Environment
​​​​​​This job operates in a professional office environment. Office hours are typically Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-5:00PM. In addition to working office hours, this position typically supports Timberwolves and Lynx home games as well as external events including but not limited to charity and networking events. Work is both sedentary and active in nature. The working environment is generally favorable. Office lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in a sports arena, which includes bleachers/steps​ and moderate noise levels​​. ​​

Physical Demands
​​The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, as well as operate computers and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, printer and telephone. Staff will frequently ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse around the building both on event days and non-event days. Staff may occasionally move items weighing up to 50 pounds.​
