Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

The Next Generation Geospatial (NGG) team is seeking a full‑time Systems Administrator to design, deploy, configure, and maintain OpenShift clusters operating in classified networks. The incumbent will ensure platform health, apply updates, and collaborate with mission‑application teams to keep services reliable and available. This individual contributor role provides direct technical support for mission‑critical space programs and works closely with engineers, cyber specialists, network teams, and program stakeholders in a high‑tempo environment. No people‑management duties are required.

• Architect & Deploy OpenShift –
• Design, install, and configure OpenShift clusters within classified (Secret/TS) environments, following security and compliance guidelines.
• Preform in-Place incremental upgrades and apply patches.
• Manage cluster components such as OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF), Advanced Cluster Security (ACS), MetalLB, and Quay registries.
• Incident & Deployment Support
• Act as the primary technical resource during platform deployments and incident response, coordinating with multiple domains and mission stakeholders.
• Automation & Tooling
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, GitOps) for provisioning, scaling, and patching of container workloads.
• Collaboration
• Partner with cyber‑security specialists, network engineers, and application owners to integrate security controls and address performance bottlenecks.
• Technical Strategy
• Contribute to long‑term technical roadmaps, evaluate emerging OpenShift features, and recommend improvements for classified operations.
• Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
• Produce clear operational run‑books, configuration guides, and training material for internal teams.
• Compliance & Auditing
• Ensure adherence to classified‑network policies, conduct regular audits, and support security reviews.

Basic Qualifications

• Active SECRET clearance and ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• Hands‑on experience with architecture, deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of OpenShift clusters in classified or highly secure environments.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex system‑of‑systems issues quickly and develop effective solutions.
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining large‑scale, integrated system architectures.
• Ability to create and execute technical roadmaps and strategies aligned with mission goals.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with cross‑functional teams and convey technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Understanding of classified‑network security requirements and best practices.

Desired Skills

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator in OpenShift (EX280)
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Advanced Cluster Management (EX432)
• Practical knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, GitOps pipelines).
• Experience with container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud‑native technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Helm).
• Familiarity with classified network architectures, firewalls, VPNs, and cyber‑security tooling.
• Prior work supporting space‑related or high‑availability mission systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and monitoring.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00

• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
