What will you do?


As a System Specialist II (Fire Alarm Technician), you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, installation, and optimization of fire alarm systems across a diverse customer base. Leveraging your technical expertise and customer-focused approach, you will ensure systems operate safely and efficiently, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to a positive customer experience through responsive and professional service delivery. Individuals with field electrical experience looking to expand their expertise in fire alarm systems are also welcomed.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Customer Service & System Support

  • Respond to customer service calls and complete annual and monthly inspections.
  • Represent the company at customer sites professionally at all times.
  • Participate in the Installation-to-Service handovers on assigned projects.
  • Work closely with other teams to maintain customer satisfaction and quality assurance procedures.
  • Required to participate in the 24-hour on-call rotation.

Installation, Testing & Technical Execution

  • Perform equipment installation and panel programming as required.
  • Test and verify systems to ensure optimal system operation.
  • Make recommendations for system improvements or changes.

Documentation & Record Management

  • Complete and submit detailed reports covering all aspects of each assignment and activity.
  • Ensure all site files are maintained and kept up to date for each contract or project.
  • Update site databases to ensure records remain current.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements and company policies at all times.
  • Ensure damaged or faulty equipment is returned to the warehouse with appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain company-issued tools and test equipment in good working condition, secure storage, and testing compliance.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as assigned by management.

Location: Supporting the Calgary, Alberta area.


What will you need to succeed?


Education & Certifications:

  • Minimum post-secondary education or equivalent field experience.
  • Valid CFAA (Canadian Fire Alarm Association) certification preferred.

Experience & Technical Knowledge:

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in service and maintenance of Fire Alarm systems; candidates with field electrical experience are considered a plus.
  • Good understanding of Canadian Building and Fire codes.
  • Experience with Siemens Fire Alarm systems preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven diagnostic skills – able to systematically identify and resolve technical problems.

Competencies:

  • Customer focused and good customer relationship building and management skills.
  • Self-motivated and calm under pressure.
  • Good communication skills in English both written and verbal.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required.
  • Valid and unrestricted G/Class 5 driver's license is required to participate in the Siemens Fleet Program and to operate a company vehicle for travel to customer sites within assigned region(s).
