Imagen Technologies is seeking a highly experienced and visionary System Medical Director – Radiology to provide centralized leadership across a large, multi-site healthcare network.
This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing clinical quality, operational performance, physician engagement, and program standardization across multiple hospitals and ambulatory imaging centers. The System Medical Director serves as the primary clinical liaison between Imagen and executive leadership while providing direct oversight of site-based Medical Directors.
This individual will play a critical role in aligning radiology services across the network, driving performance improvement, and ensuring consistent, high-quality care delivery at scale.
Program Scope:
Imaging services across multiple hospitals and ambulatory facilities
High-volume environment with 700,000+ inpatient and 19,000+ outpatient studies annually
Advanced modality mix including MRI, CT, ultrasound, and X-ray
Example volume: 63,000+ MRI studies annually
Key Responsibilities
System Leadership & Program Oversight
Provide overall clinical leadership for radiology services across the network
Serve as the primary liaison between Imagen and clinical/administrative leadership
Recruit, oversee, and mentor site-based Medical Directors and radiologists
Establish and maintain consistent clinical, operational, and quality standards
Drive alignment across facilities to create a unified radiology program
Clinical Quality & Performance
Lead system-wide quality assurance, peer review, and performance improvement initiatives
Oversee onboarding, education, and ongoing training for radiologists
Improve turnaround times, report quality, and communication standards
Identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions
Oversee critical results workflows and escalation protocols
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Standardize imaging protocols, contrast policies, and modality performance
Define and refine metrics to measure clinical quality and outcomes
Operations, Governance & Standardization
Develop standardized workflows and modality-specific protocols across all sites
Participate in Joint Operating Committee (JOC) meetings
Optimize tumor board operations in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Review operational dashboards, quality metrics, and SLA performance
Partner with leadership to optimize staffing models and coverage strategies
Drive improvements in throughput, scheduling, and operational efficiency
Physician Engagement & Administrative Leadership
Strengthen relationships with referring physicians across the network
Improve responsiveness, accessibility, and collaboration
Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of radiologists
Mentor and develop site Medical Directors
Represent radiology leadership in executive and governance forums
Contribute to strategic planning, service line growth, and expansion initiatives
Provide input on budgeting, capital planning, and resource allocation
Scope of Role
System-wide leadership across multiple sites
Primarily administrative role with select clinical reading responsibilities
Direct collaboration with site Medical Directors and Imagen leadership
Oversight across all major imaging modalities
Qualifications
MD or DO with board certification in Radiology
7–10+ years of clinical experience; prior leadership experience
Proven success leading radiology services in a multi-site environment
Strong understanding of radiology operations, quality programs, and regulatory standards
Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
Ability to work onsite in Downstate, NY within a large, complex healthcare network

The compensation for the position is $500,000 - $650,000 / year.
