The Role

The System Manager is responsible for the ongoing management, sustainment and enhancement of the AusPEX application in support of CAF16 capability requirements.

Working within a complex Defence environment, the successful candidate will coordinate sustainment activities, manage system improvements, support capability delivery and maintain effective engagement with Defence stakeholders, engineering teams and contracted suppliers.

The role is based in the ACT, and encompasses system sustainment, project management, financial management, contract administration, risk management and governance activities to ensure the continued delivery and evolution of the capability.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience managing complex ICT, application or capability systems within a Defence or government environment, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, suppliers and technical teams to achieve capability outcomes.

You will possess strong project management, governance, risk management and stakeholder engagement skills, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in system management
  • Direct knowledge of the application, or experience supporting aircrew currency management functions
  • Experience managing system sustainment activities, enhancements, upgrades and capability improvements
  • Experience coordinating vendors, suppliers and technical teams to deliver capability outcomes
  • Experience supporting governance, risk management, financial management and contract administration activities
  • Strong communication, relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills

Highly regarded candidates will possess knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Defence capability lifecycle management
  • Systems engineering principles and practices
  • Configuration management within Defence environments
  • Technical data management
  • Reliability management and materiel support
  • Performance-based contracting and contract management
  • Materiel safety and assurance
  • Risk management frameworks and methodologies
  • Modern networking, computer systems and operating environments

  • PRINCE2
  • Engineer and Technical Officer Induction to Materiel Systems Within Defence
  • Requirements Engineering
  • Reliability Management Fundamentals (RELMANFUN)
  • Systems Engineering in the Defence Capability Life Cycle
  • Configuration Management in Defence
  • Technical Data Management in Defence
  • Performance Based Contracting (PBC) Practitioners Course
  • Materiel Safety in CASG
  • Approaches to Risk Management
