A defining opportunity for a physician executive who can translate vision into access, quality, growth and an exceptional experience for patients and care teams.
Rochester Regional Health (RRH) seeks an accomplished, forward-thinking physician executive to serve as System Executive Medical Director of Primary Care. This leader will set the strategic and clinical direction for an integrated primary care service line spanning the health system’s geography and continuum of care. Working in close partnership with operational, nursing, finance, hospital and physician leaders, the Executive Medical Director will advance a consistent, high-performing model of care that improves access, strengthens outcomes and positions primary care as the connective foundation of the system.
As a member of the RRH Senior Leadership Team, the Executive Medical Director will have meaningful influence over system strategy, clinical standards, care model design, physician and APP alignment, workforce planning, technology adoption and financial performance. The role combines enterprise leadership with an active clinical practice of at least 20%.
Lead across a complex, geographically diverse health system
Build integrated, team-based and digitally enabled care models
Advance access, quality, experience, growth and value
Create consistent standards, workflows and expectations while respecting the needs of local practices and communities.
Oversee clinical quality, peer review, credentialing, OPPE/FPPE and improvement work across the service line.
Build trust, accountability and belonging; develop leaders and create an environment in which physicians, APPs and teams can thrive.
Identify emerging market, workforce and technology trends and translate them into sustainable programs and services.
Champion medical education, continuing education and the learning environment for students, residents, fellows and APP learners.
Provide visible leadership on Medical Staff, hospital and system committees while ensuring regulatory and accreditation readiness.
The successful candidate will be a respected clinician and enterprise-minded leader with the credibility to engage physicians and the agility to lead through a complex matrix. They will pair strategic perspective with disciplined execution, communicate with transparency and empathy, and have a demonstrated record of building consensus while delivering measurable clinical, operational and financial results.
This is an opportunity to lead where primary care is central to the organization’s mission and strategy. The Executive Medical Director will join a collaborative senior leadership team, influence decisions at the highest levels of the system and help build a more connected, accessible and sustainable model of care for the communities RRH serves.
