The submarine system engineer is responsible for submarine telecom fiber-optic cable systems at both, tender and contract stage, in compliance with relevant client specification and international standards. Through the optimization of the technical solutions, the system engineering team contributes to the worldwide digital transformation.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Technical design of submarine telecom cable systems (electrical, mechanical, fiber optic, optical transmission), including simulations, calculations, and definition of product specific properties.
• Design and adaptation of new or existing solutions to customer requirements, international standards, and internal specifications, including preparation and final approval of product designs for manufacturing.
• Cross-functional technical coordination with R&D, Manufacturing, Installation, Network Components, Quality, Testing, Product Management, Procurement, and Operations during tender and contract phases to define innovative solutions.
• Market and competitor analysis, including design studies and assessment of technical trends.
• Technical evaluation of tender and contract documents, technical support on manufacturability and cable properties, and preparation of technical quotation documents and texts.
• Customer-facing technical support, including definition of cable properties together with Sales, justification of design choices, and selection of cable products and system components, as well as calculation of manufacturing costs.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Master’s degree in Engineering, with preference for Electrical, Mechanical or Physics.
• 3-5 years of experience in the engineering field, experience in an EPCI environment is a plus
• Experience in electrical, mechanical and fiber optical calculation and simulations.
• Experience in cable design, optical transmission technologies and/or marine engineering.
• Experience in dealing with relevant national and international standards.
• Ability to combine technical knowledge with communications skills, both internally and with customer representatives.
• Availability to business travels.
