READY TO DESIGN AND DELIVER THE NEXT GENERATION OF LOGISTICS SORTING SYSTEMS ACROSS EUROPE?
As a System Engineer (Mechatronics) at FORTNA, you willbe responsible forthe development oflogisticssorting systems and their implementation at client sites. You will lead projects alongside the Project Manager and act as the technical lead, taking primary responsibility for the technical solution. While involved throughout all project phases, you will coordinate the technical execution of the functional design across multiple engineering disciplines. Each discipline has a Lead Engineer whom you will guide while they oversee the engineering teams.
At the start of each project, you will work closely with clients to understand operational needs and translate them into effective technical solutions. You will define the functional design,determinethe technical operation of the sorting systems, and ensure compliance with safety requirements and CE marking standards. You will document designs using industry-specific 3D modelling software and functional specifications.
You will alsoanalysetest and acceptance results to continuously improve future system designs. This role offersa high levelof variety, combining technical leadership,customer interaction, coordination, and problem-solving across multiple projects in an international environment.
Your main tasks:
Identifyand understand customer needs at the start of projects
Develop functional designs anddeterminethe technical approach for sorting systems
Coordinate the technical execution of designs across engineering disciplines
Guide Lead Engineers throughout project execution
Investigate and implement safety requirements, ensuring CE compliance
Document designs using industry-specific 3D modelling software and functional specifications
Implement safety features andestablishfunctional acceptance criteria
Analysetesting and acceptance results tooptimisefuture system designs
Present, discuss, inspect, and test systems during implementation phases
Manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying timelines
Maintain regular communication with clients and advise colleagues on technical matters
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team
This role involves international travel to client sites approximately once a month
Qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Engineering
Experience working in a technical environment with exposure to mechatronics projects
Knowledge oflogisticssystems, technical developments/applications, and safety standards
Ability to balance customer functional needs with technical quality considerations
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment
Organised, efficient, and proactive working style
Fluent English language skills, both written and verbal
Dutch language skills are highly desirable
German language skills are considered an advantage
