Job Introduction
The Frequentis Group is an international supplier of communication and information systems for control centres with safety-critical tasks. These ‘Control Centre Solutions’ are developed and distributed by Frequentis in the business segments Air Traffic Management (civil and military air traffic control, aeronautical information management, air defence) and Public Safety & Transport (police, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services, vessel traffic and railways). In Cluj we started in 2009 and our local team currently has 230+ colleagues and is growing.
Our product LifeX is a leading communication and collaboration platform that serves large public safety control rooms, aiming for a continuously growing set of functionalities to support the needs requested by our police, ambulance and fire brigade customers.
We’re looking for a hands-on System Engineer to own the reliability, security, and evolution of our test and pre prod ecosystems. You’ll maintain mission-critical test systems, roll out new releases, integrate tools and features across the toolchain, and provide expert support to internal teams. You’ll also ensure CI/CD pipelines run smoothly, coordinate system availability for multiple scopes and programs, and lead security patching, compliance checks, and proactive probing. Key Tasks

• Own the lifecycle of test and staging environments: provisioning, configuration, upgrades, capacity planning, and decommissioning for the Product to be in line with company guidelines
• Standardize environment baselines, data refreshes/masking, and environment parity with production where feasible.
• Be an escalation point for environment issues; analyse, identify and document the root causes of all technical issues (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
• Deploys, configures, and integrates operating systems, application software, and system management tools on selected environments.
• Partner with developers, QA, security, and IT to triage cross stack incidents spanning infra, network, app, and data layers.
• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
• Own security patching and configuration hardening for supported systems; track vulnerability SLAs.
• Maintain and improve the technical and functional knowledge on the product releases.

Key Qualifications
Must Have:

• 3-5 years in System Engineering / DevOps / SRE (or similar) supporting test/pre‑prod environments.
• Solid with Windows Server administration (AD, IIS, DFS, ADFS).
• Knowledge of Unix and Virtualization technologies (VMWare), networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancers).
• Networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP, DNS, Load balancing) and packet analysis tools (Wireshark).
• Scripting skills (PowerShell, Batch, Python) are nice to have
• Excellent English knowledge, both written and verbally
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and cross functional collaboration.
• Results-oriented person – get things done attitude

Nice to have:

• Experience with deployment and configuration tools (Ansible).
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (Zabbix, Prometheus)
• Basic knowledge of Databases (MongoDB, SQL Server).
• Cloud experience (Azure preferred)
