Your Role

We are looking for a System Engineer to join our RailX team, where you will contribute to the implementation, integration, automation and maintenance of system platforms supporting our software solutions for the public transport sector, with a focus on rail. In this role, you will work with a wide range of technologies and collaborate closely with development teams, architects and customers to ensure reliable and efficient system solutions. You will gain a deep understanding of how individual technologies interact within complex software environments and support their successful integration with external systems and customer infrastructures. As part of an experienced international team, you will help translate technical requirements into practical solutions, support software integration activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of our products and services. Key Tasks
  • Design, implement and maintain automation and infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code and related technologies
  • Integrate and support technical solutions across development, test and customer environments
  • Maintain and continuously improve shared development and integration platforms used by RailX teams
  • Support Agile teams and stakeholders in delivering reliable and scalable solutions
  • Support customer deployments, test integrations and internal infrastructure environments
  • Contribute to IMS and Kubernetes/OpenShift harmonization activities across products
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation
  • Collaborate on product readiness, release activities and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis and prioritize corrective actions
  • Cooperate with development teams, suppliers and competence centers to drive platform and architecture improvements
Key Qualifications
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Experience with Linux administration (RPM-based distributions)
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes environments, preferably OpenShift
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Knowledge of Git and Helm
  • Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, containers and microservices
  • Scripting skills in Bash and/or Python
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience working in Agile and cross-functional environments

Skills Considered an Advantage
  • Experience with Jenkins and Argo CD
  • Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and Loki
  • Basic networking and network security knowledge
  • Experience with Jira
  • Knowledge of Scrum or SAFe methodologies
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as ESXi or KVM

Employee requirements

Minimum achieved education
  • secondary school with an A-Levels equivalent

Education in the field
  • Information Technology, Telecommunications

Language skills
  • English - Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills
  • Self-driven and comfortable working in a highly autonomous environment
  • Ability to develop and implement technical solutions independently
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with customers, partners and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in Agile, cross-functional and international teams
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and identify root causes
  • Structured and detail-oriented approach to engineering documentation
