Job Description

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting and improving a portfolio of business-critical applications and platforms, helping to keep core services secure, stable and well supported.

You will design, build, support and continuously improve solution components using approved, standardised technologies across on-premises and cloud environments.

This role suits someone with a broad technical base who is comfortable working across interconnected systems and platforms rather than in a narrow speciality.

• Collaborate with application and technical teams to deliver integrated solution components and platform changes.

• Complete testing activities, including regression, security and performance testing.

• Embed security, risk and compliance requirements into system design, build and operations.

• Support platform availability, resilience and performance, including after-hours on-call support when required.

• Troubleshoot platform, application and integration issues and contribute to incident, problem and change management activities, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.

• Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting and observability across supported platforms.

• Automate operational and deployment activities to improve reliability, efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

You’ll bring a practical, team-first mindset and experience supporting reliable enterprise platforms. We know strong candidates may not meet every item below, so if this role aligns with your experience and interests, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement.

• Experience supporting enterprise applications and platforms in a production environment.

• 3+ years’ experience in application support, platform, and systems engineering roles.

• Strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration, configuration and troubleshooting skills.

• Experience with Windows Server environments, including installation, configuration and troubleshooting.

• Exposure to automation and configuration tools such as Terraform, Chef or Ansible.

• Experience working in banking or another regulated environment.

• Experience working in agile delivery environments and confidence engaging with stakeholders across technical and business teams.
