DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: St. Charles Health System Diagnostic Radiology Departments perform X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Dexa and Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine, exams in a variety of locations. We work closely with our partners at Cascade Medical Imaging and Central Oregon MRI to meet the imaging needs of our community and to support the ED, OR, Inpatient Floors, Family Birthing Center, and Outpatient Services.
The System Director of Radiology Services provides strategic leadership of diagnostic radiology services across all St. Charles locations including our four hospitals and seven clinics: East, South, La Pine, Sisters, Women’s Health Imaging Redmond, The Mountain Clinic and The Center. This role is responsible for driving systemwide business strategy, financial performance, and service line growth while ensuring alignment with organizational goals for quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
The System Director oversees radiology leadership across all locations, directly managing managers, supervisors, and caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Strategic Leadership and Growth
Provides strategic leadership for all diagnostic radiology services across St. Charles Health System, encompassing four hospitals (Bend, Redmond, Madras, and Prineville) and multiple outpatient sites.
Develops and executes a long-term strategy for radiology service line growth, outreach expansion, and business development opportunities across Central Oregon.
Identifies and implements innovative technologies, automation, and data-driven solutions that enhance efficiency, service quality, and market competitiveness.
Partners with executive and medical leadership to align radiology initiatives with organizational priorities in clinical excellence, financial sustainability, and patient experience.
Represents radiology services in systemwide planning, budgeting, and operational decision-making, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
Operational and Financial Performance
Provides system-level oversight of all radiology operations, including X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Dexa and Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine
Ensures standardization of radiology practices, processes, and quality metrics across all inpatient and outpatient locations.
Develops, manages, and monitors operational and capital budgets for radiology services; evaluates financial performance and develops strategies for cost optimization and revenue growth.
Oversees vendor contracts, supply chain relationships, and reference radiology agreements to ensure efficiency, compliance, and value.
Uses benchmarking and performance analytics to monitor productivity, turnaround times, and key performance indicators (KPIs) across sites.
Regulatory Compliance and Quality
Ensures that all applicable regulatory requirements are met.
Ensures A.L.A.R.A. standards are met for all procedures.
Establishes and maintains systemwide quality assurance and performance improvement programs for radiology operations.
Leads regulatory readiness activities, inspections, and audits, fostering a culture of continuous compliance and quality.
Monitors and ensures all direct reports are current with compliance and safety requirements. Ensures adherence to radiation safety practices. Implements and manages all organizational safety directives and goals.
Leadership and People Management
Acts as the lead operation liaison between St. Charles Heath System, CMI/COMRI and CORA. Works collaboratively with partners to meet all entities’ goals. Serves as a member of CMI/COMRI Operations Committee.
Provides leadership and works closely with department staff and radiologists to guide technical and operational direction, planning and coordination of services.
Hires, directs, coaches and monitors the performance of all direct reports, to develop and maintain a high-performance team that meets organizational and department goals.
Provides and oversees team’s delivery of customer service in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient, and accurate.
Establishes clear performance expectations and accountability structures aligned with system goals and St. Charles Health System’s ACTS of Excellence.
Promotes a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and shared leadership across all radiology locations and associated teams.
Serves as a member of the Joint Venture Finance and Operations Committee.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
Partners with medical staff, nursing, operations, and administrative teams to advance integrated approaches to patient care and diagnostic excellence.
Champions innovation and technology adoption, including automation, digital pathology, and data analytics tools to optimize service delivery.
Promotes transparent communication and engagement with internal stakeholders and community partners to strengthen the radiology’s role within the health system and regional network.
Collaborates with teams to review processes and identify/implement opportunities for improvements, applying Lean concepts and tools.
Responsible for the relationship and partnership with the imaging Joint Ventures.
Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects.

Utilizes AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank) to prepare patients for procedures by creating an environment where the patients feel comfortable and communicated with regarding the experience in Radiology
May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Preferred: MBA/MHA.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Required: Licensure, registration, or certification by appropriate State or National body for Nursing, Home Health, Rehab, Lab and Radiology. Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification or obtain within 6 months upon hire.

Required: Seven (7) years’ related experience with a minimum of three (3) years progressive leadership experience with at least two (2) years at a manager level or above.
