Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead technical teams to design, manufacture, and deliver complex defense systems

  • Own the technical baseline across all lifecycle stages—engineering execution, system performance, and requirements compliance

  • Balance technical solutions against cost and schedule constraints

  • Direct subsystem leads, IPT leads, and specialty engineers to drive design maturity, integration, and risk mitigation

  • Identifyand manage program risks and opportunities

  • Communicate technical progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior leadership and government stakeholders

  • Mentor and develop technical staff, fostering innovation, rigor, and collaboration

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanicalor Aerospace Engineeringfrom an ABET-accredited university.

  • BS + 15 years of progressive engineering experience (or MS + 13 years)

  • Proven success leading complex, multi-disciplinary teams through development, integration, test, and production

  • Strong technical judgment, with the ability to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Hands-on experience with design reviews (PDR/CDR), configuration management, and risk management

  • Active DoD security clearance, or eligibility to obtain

  • Resident of Huntsville, AL or willing torelocateto the Huntsville, AL area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full-lifecycle experience—design, manufacture, integration, test, and fielding—on at least one product

  • Ability to quicklyidentify, assess, and communicate the downstream impacts of technical decisions

  • Experience with launchers, canisters, and flight vehicles

  • Experience integrating munitions into land- and sea-based launchers

  • Familiarity with the Patriot launcher

  • Familiarity with the Navy Vertical Launch System (VLS)

  • Familiarity with Army offensive and defensive fires

Pay Range:

Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
