Key Tasks

  • Lead systems engineering activities through the full solution lifecycle, including concept development, requirements definition, design, integration, verification, deployment, acceptance, and sustainment.

o Analyze customer specifications, operational concepts, and technical documentation requirements; decompose, derive, allocate, manage, and trace system, subsystem, hardware, software, interface, performance, safety, reliability, maintainability, availability, security, and supportability requirements.

o Develop compliant system architectures, deliverable plans, and supporting approval documentation.

o Lead architecture discussions, technical interchange meetings, design reviews, requirements reviews, test readiness reviews, and customer presentations; document decisions, assumptions, actions, and technical risks.

o Identify solution and documentation compliance gaps; establish strategies, action plans, and recommendations to achieve contractual and regulatory assurance / approval objectives.

o Develop and maintain systems engineering plans, architecture descriptions, requirements documents, interface control documents, design analyses, compliance matrices, safety artifacts, reliability analyses, and other required technical deliverables.

o Define verification strategies and test methodologies; review or approve test plans, procedures, success criteria, results, and reports to confirm that the integrated solution meets requirements and operational concepts.

o Provide technical leadership during system integration, performance and stress testing, failure recovery testing, regression testing, factory/site acceptance, and resolution of defects or field issues.

o Perform or guide reliability, maintainability, availability, fault-tolerance, FMEA/FMECA, fault-tree, hazard, and operational analyses appropriate to the solution and customer requirements.

  • Lead System Architectural responsibilities in Customer deployment projects such as site survey, equipment siting, and design.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across product management, software and hardware development, test, quality assurance, configuration management, manufacturing, logistics, training, technical publications, deployment, and lifecycle support.
  • Advise program and functional management on technical status, compliance, risks, tradeoffs, resource needs, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Support customer, regulatory, quality, safety, and design approval reviews or audits, and provide accurate responses to findings and technical questions.
  • Create and review technical documentation for engineering accuracy, clarity, consistency, traceability, and compliance with applicable standards and contractual data requirements.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical / Electronics / Systems / Aeronautical / Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of systems engineering or technical leadership experience in complex or mission-critical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing system architectures, and deriving, allocating, tracing, and verifying system requirements and integration / deployment of mission-critical or enterprise communications, surveillance, automation, networks, computing platforms; external interfaces.
  • Demonstrated Experience developing and reviewing technical documentation, compliance evidence, engineering plans, architecture/design descriptions, interface documents, analyses, and test artifacts.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to meet customer requirements for access to U.S. Government facilities and information.
  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or related discipline
  • Prior domain knowledge in air traffic or mission critical automation environments.
  • Knowledge of FAA systems engineering, Safety Management System, Safety Risk Management, System Design Approval, and acquisition or certification processes.
  • Experience applying DO-278/DO-278A or comparable software assurance and safety practices in mission-critical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with reliability, maintainability, and availability modeling; FMEA/FMECA; fault-tree analysis; FRACAS; and hazard analysis.
  • Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) modelling, Line of Sight (LoS) analysis.
  • Experience and knowledge with video technologies and protocols.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary or geographically distributed teams through multiple phases of the system development lifecycle.
