ROLE PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Systems and Cloud Administrator to play a key role in the support, development, and documentation of our on-premises and cloud-based Microsoft Azure environment. This role requires technical expertise in AD, Azure AD, Intune/Entra, Microsoft Defender, SaaS administration, endpoint security, and cloud automation, along with a knowledge of networking.
This position will work closely with the Senior Cloud Administrator to ensure systems and technologies are aligned with the group strategy ensuring alignment and scalability.
This role forms part of a re-alignment of technical skills within the team. This position is hands-on, focusing on implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and on-prem solutions while ensuring compliance with enterprise change control processes and regulations. Strong technical documentation skills, experience in network security, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams are key to success.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
· Strong experience in implementing, monitoring and maintaining Microsoft Azure solutions, including major services related to Compute, Storage, Network and Security.
· Strong knowledge of on-premises and cloud infrastructure (Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, Active Directory).
· Strong knowledge of Backup, Restore, Recovery and high availability strategies for Microsoft Azure and on-prem environments.
· Strong knowledge of IaaS and PaaS.
· Windows Server and SQL database creation, configuration, upgrade, migration and patching
· Ability to identify and troubleshoot Azure server and SQL database related CPU, memory, I/O, diskspace and other resources.
· Experience in troubleshooting and resolving Azure environment performance issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.
· Strong understanding and background of working with a complex Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP and the requirement of strictly following standards, procedures, and processes.
· Advanced knowledge of DHCP, Kerberos and Windows Authentication.
· Knowledge of network protocols such as: DNS, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, SFTP.
· Knowledge of Network and TCP/IP routing/subnetting.
· Knowledge of Cisco network equipment/routing, switching, and firewalls would be beneficial.
· Working knowledge of VPN connectivity and client trouble shooting.
· Excellent PowerShell skills.
· Exposure to other cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) is a plus.
· Previous experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Solarwinds).
· Experience with Azure AD, Active Directory including managing/maintaining GPOs
· Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Assist with mentoring junior team members.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level:· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).· 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
Qualifications:
· Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure concepts and functionality, and Azure/AD administration.
· Microsoft or Azure Certifications; Azure Fundamentals, Azure Administrator or MCSE, CompTIA, Server+, Network+,
· Thorough Understanding of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
