SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR LEVEL 3
Position Description
The System Administrator Level 3 provides system administration capabilities in support of
software development across multiple classified and unclassified enclaves. The position is
responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software,
as well as administering system and user accounts to ensure the functional, secure, and
efficient operation of systems and servers.
The System Administrator Level 3 supports both on-premises and cloud environments and
Windows or Linux environments. The position provides technical support for operating systems,
Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ansible, cloud services, system resources, user accounts, and
cross-domain activities required to support capability development. Active TOP SECRET/SCI
clearance with a current, within 6 years, Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph required.
Minimum/General Experience
Requires 4–7 years of related professional experience administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting systems and servers in support of software or capability development environments.
Experience includes system administration across on-premises and cloud environments, including support for operating systems, user accounts, hardware, software, networking, and cloud-based resources. The position requires the ability to support systems operating across multiple classified and unclassified enclaves.
Functional Responsibility
- Administer and maintain systems supporting software and capability development, including operating systems, applications, and cloud services.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware and software across classified and unclassified environments.
- Deployment and configuration of systems virtual machines and cloud architecture using Infrastructure as Code and ansible.
- Perform routine system maintenance, including backups, updates, and patches, to maintain system performance, availability, and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, including network connectivity problems, system crashes, and other hardware or software failures.
- Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot cloud-based services, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
- Manage cloud resources, including virtual machines, storage, and networking.
- Collaborate with external organizations to manage and troubleshoot enterprise services in support of customers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues, including connectivity problems and resource allocation errors.
- Provide technical support for classified and unclassified enclaves, including the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of associated hardware and software systems.2
- Perform routine cross-domain data transfers across multiple enclaves in accordance with local standard operating procedures.
- Create, modify, and delete user accounts for operating systems, applications, cloud services, and other supported systems across multiple classified and unclassified enclaves.
- Manage account permissions, access controls, and security settings in accordance with applicable security policies and regulations.
- Conduct routine audits and reviews of account activity to support system security and integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve account-related issues, including login failures and access-denied errors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and 4–7 years of related professional experience. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
- Demonstrated system administration experience supporting hardware, software, operating systems, applications, and servers.
- Experience administering Windows and/or Linux environments.
- Experience supporting both on-premises and cloud-based environments.
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS cloud services.
- Experience managing cloud resources, including virtual machines, storage, and networking.
- Experience administering user accounts, permissions, access controls, and security settings.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and ansible to deploy reproducible systems, vitual machines, and containers (Docker).
- Experience supporting systems across classified and unclassified enclaves.
- Ability to perform cross-domain data transfers in accordance with established local standard operating procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot system, network connectivity, cloud resource, and account-access issues.
- DoD Manual 8140.03 (DoDM 8140.03) baseline certification required for the assigned role category.
- Active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance with Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph required.
- Ability to work onsite daily in a secure facility; this position is not eligible for remote work.

Salary Range: $145,000 - $165,000
