Job Description

The System Administrator provides day to day infrastructure and customer support within DOE’s on prem environment. The role supports server administration, patching, backups, incident response, and ongoing security posture maintenance.

  • Administer Windows Server 2019/2022 environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, security patches, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Monitor backup/storage systems, troubleshoot alerts, and ensure recovery readiness.
  • Perform vulnerability scanning and remediation using Tenable/Nessus; collaborate with EITS on scan outcomes.
  • Support high level incident response, triage technical issues, and document remediation actions.
  • Participate in infrastructure initiatives (e.g., Windows 2016 retirement, IIS/logging enhancements) and security authorization evidence preparation.
  • Support operational security hygiene through service account review and password rotation coordination.
  • Contribute to documentation and Records Management collaboration across CMEI program offices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • CompTIA A+ or ITIL certification preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience in information technology, systems administration or other IT related field.

Other Job Specific Skills

  • Enterprise-level Windows Server administration and patching background.
  • Proficiency in Tenable/Nessus vulnerability management and reporting.
  • Experience supporting incident response and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Azure infrastructure and network routing experience preferred.

Compensation Ranges

Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
