Position Description

The IT System Administrator’s goal will be to support the needs of the organization particularly as it relates to the monitoring, management, and improvement of IT infrastructure and backend systems. This role involves the continual monitoring, changing, and when needed implementing of these systems to ensure they are reliable and scalable to meet the ever-evolving needs of the organization. The position requires the ability to work in a collaborative environment, prioritize tasks/projects, and analytically solve problems. This position will work under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology at the corporate office located in Sykesville, MD including partial work-from-home schedule (subject to change at employer’s discretion).

Major Duties and Job Responsibilities

· Administer the organizations Microsoft, Google, VoIP & other environments

· Interact with vendors where appropriate to work collaboratively on projects or to resolve system issues.

· Identify and participate in projects to improve the environment on an ongoing basis.

· Ensure basic best practices and security protocols are being followed in regards to infrastructure and back end systems.

· Plan and lead the execution of system refreshes and upgrades with of oversight of the Director of IT and in collaboration with other needed resources both internal and external.

Documentation

  • Create technical and where appropriate training documentation to support the environment and end users.
  • Conduct and document root cause analyses when recurrent or major issues occur.
  • Follow and document technical change management protocols including escalation to a change advisory board defined by Nexion IT Leadership.

Technical Monitoring

  • Ensure that storage, archive, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
  • Maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure. This includes monitoring operating environments, responding to incidents, and planning for growth.
  • Prevent and/or remedy any security incidents, unauthorized activities, malware infestations and potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Serve as an escalation point for the service desk and other technical resources as needed reviewing higher level incident tickets and requests on a consistent basis.
  • Performs other duties of similar nature or level.

Skills and Abilities:

· Strong understanding of Microsoft products including but not limited to Microsoft 365, PowerShell, SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Forms, Power Automate, Endpoint Manager/Intune, Defender for O365 & Defender for Endpoint

· Experience administering Google, TeamViewer, and other MDM environments

· Experience managing the following OS: Windows 10+, iOS, Chrome OS

· Experience managing VoIP systems

· Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.

· Ability to work well independently and in a team-oriented environment depending on the project requirements.

· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

· Self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi-task

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; degree in the field of computer science desirable.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Enterprise Administrator Expert
