David Kennedy Recruitment is working with a leading tech company who is looking to recruit a System Administrator to join their team in Bucharest, Romania.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install, configure, maintain, and support the company’s IT infrastructure, operating systems, server environments, and business-critical systems

• Manage the full lifecycle of server hardware, operating systems, and software applications, including updates, upgrades, patching, and performance optimisation

• Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments to ensure system reliability, availability, and security

• Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, ESXi, or similar technologies

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot networking infrastructure including Cisco equipment, switches, firewalls, wireless environments, and related network devices

• Monitor system performance, availability, and infrastructure health while proactively identifying and resolving potential issues

• Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures to ensure operational resilience

• Implement and manage security measures including antivirus, firewalls, encryption, user access controls, and vulnerability management processes

• Automate repetitive operational tasks through scripting and infrastructure automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, server, and network-related issues

• Manage user accounts, permissions, authentication methods, and access policies in line with company security standards

• Support infrastructure projects including migrations, upgrades, deployments, and system improvements

• Maintain technical documentation related to systems, configurations, procedures, incidents, and maintenance activities

• Collaborate closely with internal teams and stakeholders to support operational and infrastructure-related initiatives

• Ensure proper maintenance and operational standards within server rooms, including rack management, cabling, airflow, and infrastructure organisation

• Maintain high operational accountability, ownership, and responsiveness within a fast-paced production environment

• Work in a fully on-site environment with occasional shift rotation and night shift coverage when required.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Fluent in English, both verbal and written

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a System Administrator or in a similar infrastructure-focused role

• Strong networking knowledge with hands-on experience managing Cisco equipment

• CCNA certification is considered a strong advantage

• Strong experience administering Windows and Linux server environments

• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, ESXi, Proxmox, or similar platforms

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and monitoring platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

• Experience with infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation

• Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and IT security best practices

• Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python is considered an advantage

• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organisational skills

• Ability to work independently and manage infrastructure responsibilities with minimal supervision

• Comfortable working fully on-site and participating in occasional shift and night coverage rotations

• Ability to occassionaly work night shifts (when required).
