Job Description

Position: SYE Before & After Care Aide

Department: Youth and Family Education

Availability of Position: 6/8/26-8/7/26

Schedule: Seasonal, Part Time

Reporting Relationship: Directly: Youth and Family Education Administrator; Indirectly: Youth and Family Education Site Coordinator

Salary/Grade: $18.00 per hour; 73 NE

Responsibilities

of Position:

Specialist will manage the Before and/or After Care programs at SYE. Before and After Care Specialists are responsible for the supervision of participants during the Before and After Care Programs. Will enforce the behavior policy and maintain order and structure during these auxiliary programs of SYE. BAC Specialists will take attendance and maintain records associated with the Before and After Care programs to ensure proper billing and enforcement of payment policies. The position is up to 24 hours a week, part-time, seasonal employment.

Qualifications

Requirements:

High School Diploma with 2-3 years of work-related experience in the areas of Elementary Education and or child care. Should be self-motivated; exhibit strong initiative and time management skills as well as good organizational and interpersonal skills. The position requires the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment but also the ability to work independently. Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with inner-city and un-churched youth is required. Must be a detail-oriented, logical thinker, who is a motivated self-starter and able to work independently on assigned projects. Must be able to adapt and change to meet the needs of the organization and the community. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check
  • Valid National Sex Offender Registry Clearance
  • TB Test
  • Health Physical to meet DHS compliance for licensed School Age Centers
  • Upon hire, complete 10 hours Health and Safety Training
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
