Job Description

About us

Tradition Financial Services (TFS) Australia is the local arm of Compagnie Financière Tradition — one of the world's largest interdealer brokers in over-the-counter financial and commodity products, listed on the Swiss stock exchange and represented in more than 30 countries. Locally, our Sydney CBD office is the hub of an Australia & NZ business that also operates in Brisbane, Wellington and Auckland, supporting a fast-paced trading floor that's active across global markets every business day.

About the role

This is a hands-on Junior IT Operations Engineer role on the Sydney trading floor. You'll be the front line for keeping our technology running — from the laptops, M365 environment and collaboration tools our staff use every day, through to the network, server and voice infrastructure that the dealing desks rely on. You'll log, triage and resolve incidents and requests in our service desk tool, work shoulder-to-shoulder with brokers and key support staff, and collaborate with our regional and global IT teams on changes and projects.

A standout part of this role is administering our voice dealing platform. We don't require prior voice experience, but if you have it (or you're curious to learn), this role will quickly take you somewhere very few graduate-level IT roles can.

What you'll do

  • Keep technology operations and systems running — ensure availability of end-user devices, productivity tools and core trading-floor systems, and resolve incidents and service requests in a timely manner via our service desk tool.
  • Provide hands-on support for Microsoft 365, Windows, and mobile devices, including provisioning, imaging and lifecycle management.
  • Set up and onboard new starters — build and deploy workstations using standard images, hardware and software.
  • Administer and support our voice dealing platform, working with vendors and our wider regional IT teams on configuration, MACs (moves/adds/changes) and incident resolution.
  • Help maintain LAN, Wi-Fi and basic SIP/voice infrastructure on the floor — VLANs, DHCP, DNS, patching, port configuration.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software and licences.
  • Document standard operating procedures, runbooks and knowledge-base articles in our service desk tool so the next person (you, in six months) doesn't have to re-solve the same problem.
  • Collaborate with regional IT teams on changes, releases and small projects — you'll be exposed to a much wider stack than a typical IT support role.

What we're looking for

Required

  • 1–2 years of experience in IT support or IT operations, or a recent IT / Computer Science graduate with relevant hands-on experience (internships, lab projects, home lab, certifications).
  • Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent technical diploma / vendor-fundamentals certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+/Network+, or comparable cloud or networking entry-level certs).
  • Solid PC support and troubleshooting skills across Windows, Microsoft 365 and common business applications.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/Wi-Fi fundamentals — VLANs, DHCP, DNS, basic switch configuration.
  • Familiarity with IT service management workflows (incidents, requests, changes) and ticketing tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you'll be supporting brokers, support staff and senior leaders directly.
  • A self-starter mindset: curious, calm under pressure, and able to problem-solve rather than wait for answers to be handed to you.
  • Comfortable working fully on-site in our Sydney CBD office and conducting remote support for staff working outside of the Sydney office, including occasional out-of-hours work for changes or critical incidents.
  • This is a trading-floor environment where system availability is business-critical and uptime expectations are high.

Advantageous (not required)

  • Exposure to SIP-based telephony, voice dealing or enterprise UC / contact-centre platforms — we'll teach you what you don't know.
  • Experience with enterprise identity / directory services and endpoint-management tooling.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms.
  • Any prior experience in financial services, trading-floor or other 24/5 or 24/7 operational environments.
