As a Lead Counselor, you’ll grow your confidence, strengthen your communication and leadership skills, and learn how to build positive group culture — all while serving as a role model who embodies our core values of love, respect, courage, gratitude, and joy.

This position is ideal for someone who finds fulfillment in acts of service, enjoys helping others thrive, and wants to be part of a supportive community where every team member is valued. You’ll not only support children’s growth — you’ll experience your own.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Associate Counselor, ensuring smooth transitions and consistent routines.
  • Maintain a safe, positive environment aligned with Responsive Classroom practices (training provided).
  • Facilitate games, activities, and structured play that promote engagement and teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with program leadership regarding student needs, behavior, and safety concerns.
  • Assist with arrival, dismissal, lunch distribution, and movement between activities.
  • Uphold and model LEEP Academy's core values—love, respect, courage, gratitude, and joy—in all interactions.
  • Support program operations as needed to ensure a high‑quality experience for all students.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Successful completion of fingerprinting/background check (fees covered by school)
  • Prior experience working with children in camps, after‑school programs, or youth settings
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to supervise and manage groups of children safely
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work the full program schedule
  • Literacy and fluency in Spanish and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading youth activities (arts, sports, STEM, games, etc.)
  • Training or coursework in education, child development, recreation, or social work
  • Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and joyful group culture
