Job Description

We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management.

Position: SXEW Intern will be assisting the L-SXEW Department

Duties:

  • Anode condition and tracking database
  • Cost/Benefit Analysis and Feasibility Study on Replacing Starter Sheets w/ Permanent Cathode Blanks
  • Cost/Benefit Analysis and Feasibility Study on Different Contact Bus Bars
  • Cost/Benefit Analysis and Feasibility Study of Replacing Lead Anodes w/ Alternative Anodes
  • Evaluate assigned field problems (real or theoretical) and report back as required.
  • Meet everyday safety goals.
  • Various other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited school or university and currently pursuing a degree in, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Technology, Ore Control, or other related degrees.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products

Experience Required: No previous experience required.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Frequent sitting, standing, walking and some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures* (*not for all majors)

Duration: Requires at least a ten-week internship commitment between mid-May and mid-August.

Duration: Temporary/ Seasonal
