
Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS) COLUMBIA Waterfront Engineering, department 445, is seeking highly motivated electrical engineers to provide comprehensive technical oversight of construction activities. This position is located in Groton, CT, with the primary responsibility of proactively supporting the SWS Systems and the associated Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) in both the Groton and Quonset Point shipyards.
The Waterfront Engineering team provides direct support to the shipyard trades and support organizations to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous completion of construction activities in a manner that results in delivery of ships consistent with the design intent. Engineers will interface with multiple Strategic Programs (SP) branches and their contractors, Electric Boat Design and Engineering, Ship's Management, Planning, Operations, Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) PMS397 to act as the primary engineering interface for the Groton shipyard as the SWS COLUMBIA Waterfront Engineering organization grows.

The world’s first and finest submarine builder, Electric Boat was established in 1899 to complete the U.S. Navy’s first modern commissioned submarine, USS Holland. Designed and built by Electric Boat, USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine, was launched in 1954. Electric Boat has designed and delivered 17 of the U.S. Navy’s 20 classes of nuclear submarines. Now in its second centennial of submarine building, EB is the design yard and prime contractor for the Virginia-class submarine program, currently in production. EB is also designing and developing the Columbia-class ballistic-missile submarine which will replace the current Ohio class beginning in 2027.
