Lead critical switching operations across Western Australia's electricity network

UGL's Utilities O&M business delivers critical maintenance, construction and network services across electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure. We partner with major utilities and asset owners to safely deliver essential power network services that keep communities connected.

We're looking for an experienced Switching Manager to join our team in Canning Vale and lead the safe coordination and delivery of HV and LV switching activities across our Western Australian operations.

About the role

As Switching Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing switching operations, network access requirements and the safe delivery of construction and maintenance activities across the network.

You'll lead a team of Switching Operators, coordinate resources, support planned outages and ensure all works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance technical expertise, operational oversight and people leadership to achieve outstanding outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage HV and LV switching activities to support the safe delivery of network projects and maintenance works.

  • Oversee Switching Operators and field crews, ensuring high standards of safety, performance and compliance.

  • Coordinate network access requirements, including the development and submission of ENARs for planned works.

  • Build strong relationships with clients and operational stakeholders to support effective project delivery.

  • Drive continuous improvement across safety, operational performance and resource utilisation.

About you

  • Experience leading switching operations, powerline construction or network maintenance activities within the electricity industry.

  • Strong leadership capability with experience managing teams, contractors and operational delivery.

  • Sound knowledge of HV and LV switching, network access requirements and safe work practices.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build effective client and workforce relationships.

  • Relevant electrical trade qualifications and switching authorisations, supported by a strong commitment to safety.
