Job Description

As a member of a multi-disciplined team, Switchgear and Controlgear Senior Engineer is responsible for lead the execution of engineering process for switchgear and controlgear (for low and medium voltage) in line with product standards and ensuring the conformity with customer, country (where applied) and GEV rules.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Tendering Support:Assist the Product Tendering team with technical configurations, hour estimation, and project planning.
  • Sales & Technical Liaison:Provide technical expertise during customer discussions and support the Sales and System Application Engineering teams.
  • Engineering Oversight:Serve as the primary guardian of product engineering procedures, ensuring seamless transition and execution from ITO (Inquiry to Order) to OTR (Order to Remittance).
  • Project Leadership:Lead technical design reviews and manage resources to deliver multiple concurrent projects.
  • Operational Monitoring:Rigorously track project progress, hours spent, and OTD (On-Time Delivery) metrics against budget requirements.
  • Technical Execution:Ensure the delivery of detailed designs and comprehensive technical support for manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Cost Management:Manage Bill of Materials (BoM) costs and lead cost-down initiatives within the product family.
  • Process Improvement:Drive efficiency through the development of standard engineering solutions, new market-driven designs, and the application of “Lean for Engineering” principles.

Required Qualification:

  • Degree in electrical engineering or related subject;
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent proven record of continuous professional development;
  • Experience in Industrial applications for switchgears and controlgears, including metal industries, mining industries and marine applications;
  • Project leadership/management training;
  • Proficient in English language.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in power electronics engineering design, application, testing or commissioning environment;
  • Experience of system integration working on multi-discipline projects;
  • Experience in a leadership role;
  • On site commissioning of large projects.
