Job Description

Within the context of a client and family centred care model and accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, works under general supervision, performs communication, information and reception services by telephone or in person to staff, clients and the public by performing duties such as operating the computerized telephone exchange, locating personnel through the use of pagers, answering services and the public address system, responding to emergencies and receiving patient items such as flowers for delivery. Performs a variety clerical duties such as typing and data entry, maintaining patient arrival lists and in-patient register records, and operating on-line computer to retrieve information as required. QUALIFICATIONS:QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience Grade 12, plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.Knowledge of medical terminology.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
