Qualifications and Requirements

  • Formal swimming training and relevant coaching certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, stroke development, and competitive preparation.

Experience and Skills

  • 3–4 years’ experience as a Swimming Instructor, Teacher, or Coach.
  • Proven experience teaching primary‑aged students (Grades 1–6).
  • Experience working in international schools or English‑medium schools.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare students for swimming competitions and galas.
  • Excellent communication and classroom/pool management skills.
  • Passion for student development and aquatic education.

The Aga Khan Education Service in Tanzania (AKES, T) invites applications from qualified and dynamic individuals for the following position: Swimming Instructor / Teacher–Coach for Aga Khan Primary School)

AKS Primary School is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Swimming Instructor / Teacher–Coach to deliver a high‑quality swimming programme for Primary students (Grades 1–6). The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of swimming, experience working in international or English‑medium schools, and a proven ability to teach students ranging from beginners to advanced swimmers while preparing them for competitions and swimming activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver age‑appropriate swimming lessons for students from Grade 1 to Grade 6.
  • Teach swimming skills across all ability levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers.
  • Ensure safe practice and provide clear instruction on swimming techniques and water safety.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to improve performance.
  • Prepare students for swimming galas, competitions, swimming trips, and related activities.
  • Organize and support swimming events and school‑based aquatic program
  • Promote confidence, discipline, teamwork, and enjoyment in swimming.
  • Ensure compliance with school health, safety, and safeguarding policies at all times.
  • Maintain swimming records, attendance, and performance data.
  • Work collaboratively with PE staff and school leadership to enhance the swimming program
  • Creates learning outcomes and use them to write midyear or end of year reports
