Summary: Instruct students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. Work with team to prepare progress reports, communicate abilities and strengths/weakness with parents and caregivers.
Primary Responsibilities:- Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum- Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents; rescues and administers first aid when necessary- Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues- Evaluates students’ progress and completes paperwork timely- Advances through cross-training in multiple roles and substitutes when necessary- Acts as a GSS “ambassador” to provide a Golden Experience to our students, families, and team members
Job Qualifications and Skills:- Ability to work with children- Prior related leadership and teaching experience is preferred (supervisory roles)- Problem solver and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter- Excellent communication and organizational skills- Must pass background examinations prior to training
Education/Experience High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider not required but preferred and certification will be provided. Swimming experience is preferred but not required. We will train the right candidates.
Certificates and Licenses Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred but not required and will be provided upon acceptance of employment. FREE PAID TRAINING to receive certifications.
Work Environment While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.

Compensation: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Each Goldfish Swim School is an independently owned and operated franchise. The respective Franchisee is the employer at each Goldfish Swim School location. Each franchisee can set their own wages, benefit programs and terms and conditions of employment, which may vary at each Goldfish Swim School location.
Goldfish Swim School was founded in 2005 by husband and wife team Chris and Jenny McCuiston. Chris and Jenny took a concept that they formulated with nearly two years of research, and cultivated a business that provides results in the learn-to-swim environment that you simply can’t find anywhere else. Their proprietary curriculum and systems were developed after traveling the country in search of the “best practices” to teach babies and young children how to swim.
The first school, in Birmingham, Michigan, opened in 2006, and quickly saw success. Opening its doors with over 500 students at inception, Goldfish currently teaches more than 70,000 students per month across the franchise system.
At the beginning of 2008, it made sense to begin the franchising process. As of early 2017, we are currently in the process of expanding franchise opportunities throughout the country and internationally, with over 80 schools open or in development in more than 23 states and Canada.
