About the Centre

Horsham Aquatic Centre run over 50 group fitness classes each week, offer swimming lessons to people of all ages and abilities, and provide childcare services in a safe and engaging environment. The Horsham Aquatic Centre is owned by the Horsham Rural City Council and managed by YMCA Victoria.

About the Role

As a Swim Teacher at Horsham, you will be developing and delivering lesson plans that promote swimming skill building in school aged children, combining stroke development with water safety and enhancing the overall confidence and ability of your students.

  • Structure and design lessons with appropriate activities that challenge and develop your students swimming and water safety ability
  • Recommend students for level progression as appropriate
  • Teach and model effective problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills

This is a Casual role with an hourly rate up to $33.37 + super & Y Benefits.

About You

You will be passionate about inspiring and developing water safety and swimming skills in children and young people. Experience in other teaching or coaching roles is a bonus but not necessary. Personal attributes such as patience, respect, and enthusiasm will take you far as a Swim Teacher!

In this role you will unlock the power of all children to be inspired by swimming, creating lifelong opportunities.

  • Provide excellent customer service to parents and students alike
  • Be motivated and committed to perform to a high standard
  • Be friendly, polite and approachable at all times
  • Display interest, enthusiasm, patience and respect to children and peers

Essential Qualifications

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Accredited Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (AUSTSWIM or equivalent)- funding may be available

Other Desired Qualifications

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • Teacher of Infants and Preschool Aquatics
  • Teacher Developing Competitive Strokes or equivalent
  • Teacher of Aquatics - Access and Inclusion
  • Teacher of Adults

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
