As a Swim Instructor, you’ll spend your days helping kids learn to swim, splash around, and grow in confidence. Our Mission:Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children, and at British Swim School, we are on a mission to change that. Since 1981, we have been teaching over 30,000 students weekly across 500+ locations, helping save lives through water safety education.
Requirements for Swim Instructors: • You need to be a “swimmer” with an understanding of all four strokes and a love for the water • A passion for working with children and helping them progress • An upbeat, fun attitude—enjoying your work is a must! • A commitment to a long-term, year-round role (this isn’t a summer-only job) • Availability to work weekend mornings (9:00 am - 2:00 pm) and weekdays (2:30 pm - 7:00 pm) • Ability to commute reliably to our location in Manhattan
Your Responsibilities: • Teach swimming lessons to students of all ages (3 months and up) using our proven British Swim School method • Follow safety guidelines and maintain certifications throughout employment • Provide a positive, supportive learning environment for both students and parents • Work with a fun, dynamic team committed to our mission of water safety

Compensation: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

While we teach swimming to people of all ages and abilities, most of our students are preschool and elementary-aged kids. Our instructors should like working with this age group and be good at making parents feel comfortable. It's helpful if you have experience with children or in a child-focused job, but it's not required if you can show the right attitude. The job comes with specialized training in our advanced and unique British Swim School approach.
We also have exciting opportunities with our Customer Service Team, even if you're not in the pool. These are the people committed to providing the best service in the industry. In these roles, you might talk to parents on the phone or by the pool. Wherever you are, the aim is to make everyone feel like part of the British Swim School Family as we focus on ensuring the “Survival of the Littlest.”

The United States Swim School Association began as The National Swim School Association (NSSA). It was founded in 1988 to provide a trade association for those who operate swimming schools in the United States. In 2003 the National Swim School Association changed it’s name to the United States Swim School Association.
