Job Shift: Any, Swim Instructors are a vital connection to our members, ensuring our brand promise of Helping Members Feel Comfortable. Comfortable enough to feel safe and secure in our aquatic centers. Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching people of all ages how to swim. Their students include infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, adults, seniors, and physically and mentally challenged children and adults. A swimming Instructor must be able to work with a timid student as well as a confident one. Maintains constant surveillance of client while in session; acts immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate skills in swim lessons instruction
• Knowledge of skills required for class content and the use of teaching aids such as kick-boards, diving rings, life-jackets, etc
• Evaluate students who are learning to swim
• Taking note of the weaknesses of students and training them accordingly
• Helping students get past their fear of water and swimming
• Teaching them life-saving techniques for themselves and to help save others lives
• Demonstrates quality swim lessons
• Submit reports of students along with attendance regularly
• Attend meetings and training
• Recognize and praise behavior aligned with our values
• Identify opportunities for continual improvement
• Provide world-class customer service to our members and guests
• Ensure our aquatic members are safe and supervised at all times
• Ensure the aquatic center is clean, neat, and tidy; according to our Feng Shui Principles

Qualifications

• Previous aquatic experience is preferred
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred but not required.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid
• Ability to work independently and exhibit energy and enthusiasm.
• Ability to positively interact with the public.
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Positive attitude with the commitment to excellence
• Ability to follow directions well
• Ability to work well unsupervised
