Summary
Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director and Aquatics Program Manager, a swim instructor will teach group lessons to students aged 2-13 and follow Samena’s swim curriculum. Swim instructors will use their swimming knowledge, along with the knowledge given to them during instructor training to ensure a fun and safe swimming environment for all students.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach swim lessons to the standard taught in instructor training
- Caution swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards in a friendly and helpful manner
- Follow emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency
- Maintain order in the pool and adjoining areas
- Provide excellent customer service to all members and guests using the facility
- Ensure safe, quality swim lessons for all assigned students
- Write quality reports cards for swim lesson students
- Other duties as assigned
Available Shifts
- Monday/Wednesday 4-7pm
- Tuesday 4-7pm
- Thursday 4-7pm
- Saturday 10am-12pm
- Monday to Friday 9am-12:30pm (June 29-August 28 Only)
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Current American Red Cross Certifications (or equivalent)
- - Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
- - This trainings will be provided by the Samena Club if currently uncertified
- Strong communication skills
- Previous Swimming Experience (no swim lesson experience required; we provide paid training)
- Excellent Customer service skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner
- Knowledge and skill in the application of CPR & First Aid
- Knowledge of effective safety standards and precautions related to swimming
- Ability to remain calm in any emergency situation
- Ability to work a regular, consistent schedule
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to receive direction and to follow oral and written instructions

Our facility includes a fitness room, playground, classrooms, tennis courts, a seasonal wading pool, a year-round 25-yard, 6 lane outdoor pool and a year-round 25-meter, 6 lane indoor pool.
