Job Description

WHAT IS THE BRAND?

Mashburn is an Atlanta-based apparel and lifestyle brand launched in 2007 with a single passion: taking care of people. The company designs, manufactures, and markets a nationally recognized assortment of menswear (Sid Mashburn) and womenswear (Ann Mashburn) alongside other high-quality, iconic brands. We want to be the world's go-to omnichannel lifestyle shop – a place that embodies service and style, accessibility and luxury, and, for us, the very best of everything. Most excitingly, our story is still unfolding, and incredible growth opportunities lie ahead...

WHAT IS THE MINDSET?

  • Do you believe that hospitality never takes a break?
  • Do you believe that serving people, at its heart, is cool?
  • Are you always looking for a way to not say 'no'?
  • Do you value the success of the team over the success of the individual?
  • Is your attitude worth catching?

WHAT IS THE JOB?

As Sweater Designer, you own the design, development, and execution of Sweaters and Cut & Sew Knits for both Sid Mashburn and Ann Mashburn. You collaborate closely with the Men's VP of Design and the Women's Design Director to ensure a consistent brand aesthetic between knitwear and wovens.

You report to the EVP of Design & Product, with a dotted line to both.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES?

  • Design and develop the Sweater and Cut & Sew Knit categories from initial concept through marketing samples.
  • Research seasonal silhouettes, color, yarns, stitches, and construction techniques to develop commercially relevant knitwear concepts.
  • Develop knit swatches and stitch explorations relevant to the season.
  • Create presentation boards for Design Leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Review prototypes, fittings, lab dips, and yarn approvals, providing detailed feedback to vendors and cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborate closely with Technical Design throughout the product lifecycle to ensure fit, construction, and garment engineering meet design intent.
  • Maintain accurate product information in PLM and an organized style library.
  • Build strong factory partnerships through clear, consistent communication.
  • Support a collaborative team environment, partnering across functions to solve design and development challenges.
  • Adhere to the time and action calendar.

WHAT ARE THE ESSENTIAL SKILLS?

  • 5+ years designing sweaters for both the men's and women's markets
  • Experience developing product directly with factories, concept to production
  • Familiarity with Italian and Asian yarn suppliers and yarn properties
  • Strong technical knowledge of stitch construction, machine capabilities, and finishing details
  • Strong sketching skills, flats and illustration, plus Photoshop/Procreate CAD
  • Great color sense and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Able to drive decisions with senior management and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent work ethic and a passion for excellence
  • Strong portfolio of work required
  • Reflects our core values of Hopeful, Helpful, Humble, Hardworking, Nimble, Hospitable and Honest.

About Sid Mashburn and Ann Mashburn

Mashburn is a specialty retailer for men and women — clothing, shoes, and accessories — built on the idea that you don't need a lot of choices. You just need the right ones.

Sid and Ann Mashburn are real people — with decades of experience in fashion design and editorial between them — who spent careers in the industry before setting out on their own in 2007. They're still in the building every day. Before there were stores, they kept a mental edit of things worth owning, wearing, and sharing with others — a running moodboard, assembled over years of mixtapes, dinner parties, and an obsessive love of the hunt.

We design and produce our own lines, and mix in classic and hard-to-find pieces from other brands we love. We work with the same mills, tanneries, and makers as luxury brands — and take a more accessible approach to price. We call it everyday luxury.

Brick-and-mortar is where it all started, and we’re big believers that shopping in person is special. Our stores are places to be, not just to buy, and our staff is there to help you look and feel great: finding the right pair of jeans, measuring for a custom suit, or just recommending a record.

Headquartered in Atlanta, just steps from our flagship, we operate eight stores across the US plus e-commerce at shopmashburn.com.

We're growing… and we’re looking for people who care about product, service, and the way a customer feels when they walk out the door. We’d love to meet you.
