Title: Seasonal Worker III - Lifeguard
Location: Kansas City, MO - Longview Beach
Grade: 099NM
Salary: $16.00/hour
Job Duties: Lifeguard

Job Duties:

  • Ensure patron safety at the beach by actively scanning the water, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies with water rescues, CPR, and first aid. Complete related reports and communicate any concerns with the beach manager.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all beach facilities, including admissions building, restrooms, parking lot, and beach grounds.
  • Occasionally work the admissions register.
  • Conduct equipment checks to ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with all departments and staff members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Must obtain Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification prior to the beach opening. Required to attend two days of provided lifeguard training on 5/3 and 5/9 unless a current certification can be provided or obtained independently.
  • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
  • Must be capable of working in warm, humid environments for extended periods.
  • Required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays; work schedule will vary and may include special events.
***These are seasonal positions only. Must have lifeguard certificate Successful applicants must provide their own transportation. Evening, weekend and holiday work will be required All applicants must be 16 years of age or older. Must have a valid driver's license. Must pass pre-employment drug test/background check.
