Engineering Manager – Full Stack (Product-Focused)

Our client is a fully remote (Canada-based) startup founded in 2022, built to make cloud data cost management easier, more transparent, and more efficient. Since launching, they’ve grown to over 200 customers, powered by a lean, highly motivated team that ships new features every week. The team meets in person twice per year.

What You’ll Work On

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a small, high-impact team of product engineers focused on delivering customer value through fast, thoughtful execution. You’ll be responsible for guiding the team in building and evolving:

  • Cost-management features (forecasting, anomaly detection, cost allocation) that help customers stay ahead of cloud spend
  • Scalable and reusable UI systems that enable seamless cost exploration
  • Data visualization capabilities that surface performance insights and query efficiency
  • Data pipelines and dbt models that unlock meaningful customer insights
  • A reliable, high-performance application that customers trust

You’ll partner closely with product and design to ensure the team is making high-leverage investments aligned with customer needs.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture
  • Drive execution by setting clear priorities, ensuring alignment, and removing blockers
  • Balance speed and quality, helping the team make effective tradeoffs in a fast-paced environment
  • Support engineers in end-to-end ownership of features, from ideation through release
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and building a strong engineering organization
  • Establish and uphold best practices in architecture, testing, documentation, and decision-making
  • Facilitate strong cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and leadership

Tech Stack (Familiarity Helpful, Not Required)

Frontend: TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, Tailwind CSS
Backend: Python, FastAPI, Postgres, Snowflake
Other: Terraform, GCP, dbt, Dagster

Nice to Have

  • Experience leading teams in early-stage startups
  • Background in FinOps, cloud infrastructure, cost management, or data platforms
  • Prior experience working with similar technologies
