Job Description

As a Software Engineer, you will work with advanced wireless technologies and tactical communication systems. In addition to software development, you will contribute to technical decisions and collaborate across teams.

Nokia Defense develops secure, resilient, and mission-critical communication solutions for defense and government customers. Our solutions combine advanced radio technologies, secure networking, software platforms, cloud-native architectures, sensing capabilities, and next-generation communications systems to support demanding operational environments.

We are looking for recent graduates or professionals with a couple of years experience with curious and collaborative mindset and broad interest in technology. The role offers broad development opportunities while fostering collaboration and co-creation.

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions for Nokia Defense Connectivity projects.
  • Write and implement high-quality, maintainable code leveraging AI and modern software engineering practices.
  • Conduct unit, integration, and cross-component testing to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical issues in telecommunications, networking, and defense systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with architects, technical leads, and integration teams to align on system design and implementation.
  • Support agile development activities, including continuous integration, automation, and DevOps practices.
  • Ensure adherence to Nokia’s quality, security, and defense compliance standards.

Must-have:

  • BSc. or MSc. degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with knowledge gained of 5G Radio or Core technologies
  • Experience in SW programming languages such as C/C++
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and techniques
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid personal identification document from a NATO-member country.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of tactical communications, or mission-critical networks.
  • Knowledge of drones, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, or defense technologies.
  • Understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems or telecommunication protocols
  • Exposure to agile frameworks, such as scrum

Please note that the candidate needs to pass/have a valid Finnish security clearance check. Additionally, this role is based in Finland and we are not offering international relocation option for this position.
