About you

As the SVP Portfolio Strategy & Advisory, Occupier Services you will be a senior, client-facing leader responsible for leading the Portfolio Strategy & Advisory service line, that supports Occupier Brokerage, focusing on delivering high-impact, analytics-driven real estate advisory solutions. This role optimizes client portfolios, aligns locations with business objectives, drives operational and financial value, and strengthens the firm’s position as a trusted industry advisor.

You will partners closely with occupier brokers, producers, and cross-functional advisory teams to translate complex business and real estate challenges into actionable portfolio strategies, site selection guidance, business process improvements, and portfolio optimization recommendations.

You are a recognized industry leader, with a proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams and executing complex, multi-market client engagements that incorporate organizational, operational, market, and financial analysis to support high-stakes decision-making.

In this role, you will…

Client Leadership & Revenue Generation

  • Lead BD efforts with prospective and existing brokerage clients, partnering closely with brokers and sales, & solutions leaders to originate and win / expand new business.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to occupier brokers and clients, leading strategic discussions on portfolio optimization, location strategy, and workplace transformation.
  • Translate complex client challenges into clear, actionable, and financially defensible recommendations.
  • Drive revenue growth by deepening client relationships, expanding service offerings, and supporting high-value pursuits.

Portfolio Strategy, Optimization & Thought Leadership

  • Lead broker-led multi-market portfolio assessments, including consolidation, expansion, and optimization studies across national or global portfolios.
  • Serve as a recognized thought leader in commercial real estate portfolio optimization, location strategy, site selection, and planning.
  • Provide oversight for metro-market strategy consulting, ensuring consistency, rigor, and alignment with client objectives across regions.
  • Develop and implement innovative methodologies, frameworks, and analytical tools to differentiate the firm’s portfolio strategy offerings.

CRE Organizational Design & Development

  • Advise clients on corporate real estate organizational design, including portfolio governance, team structure, and operational processes to maximize efficiency and strategic impact.
  • Guide clients in aligning their real estate organization with broader business objectives and portfolio goals.

Analytics, KPIs & Business Case Leadership

  • Lead business analytics, KPI development, and performance measurement initiatives to inform strategic portfolio decisions.
  • Develop best-in-class business cases, including scenario analysis, cost-benefit evaluation, financial modeling, and market analysis.
  • Ensure all client recommendations are quantifiable, defensible, and tied to measurable outcomes.

Financial & Market Analysis

  • Conduct detailed financial, operational, and market assessments to support portfolio decisions, site selection, and strategic planning.
  • Translate complex datasets into actionable insights for executive-level clients.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Manage and mentor portfolio strategy consultants and/or analysts.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration with consulting, brokerage, and other practice teams to ensure integrated solutions.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation within the portfolio strategy practice.

Professionalism & Workplace Effectiveness

  • Demonstrate resilience under pressure, handling job stress effectively while interacting professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Act with honesty, integrity, and composure in all interactions, both internally and externally.

What you’ll bring

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading a real estate and/or management consulting practice or equivalent multi-disciplinary team.
  • 10–12+ years of experience in corporate real estate, consulting, or portfolio strategy advisory.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in economics, finance, accounting, business, real estate, or related field required.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
  • Deep experience in location strategy, site selection methodology, portfolio optimization, and organizational design preferred.
  • Required: Experience advising on complex real estate portfolios, including multi-location, regional, or global occupier strategies.
  • Experience in portfolio optimization, metro-market strategy, site selection, organizational design, and incentives strategy preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership in multi-disciplinary teams focused on multi-market or national-level real estate portfolios.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau); experience with IWMS and CAFM systems.
  • Experience with site selection methodology, financial modeling, and incentives negotiation practices.
  • Training or familiarity with process improvement methodologies, including Lean Thinking or Six Sigma, is a plus.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and visual presentation skills suitable for executive-level communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
  • Strong analytical and technical orientation with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • High standards for quality, structure, organization, and efficiency in work and deliverables.
  • Analytical thinker capable of big-picture analysis and calculated risk-taking.
  • Effective communication style with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams while aligning them with organizational and client objectives.
  • Focus on achieving measurable client impact through portfolio optimization, financial modeling, and organizational strategy.

Area / Location Specific: New York and California

Approximate Base Salary Range for this Role: $200, 000- $235,000

Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all national locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes an employer match. Employees will also receive 10 days of sick leave and a minimum of 15-days vacation annually. Certain senior-level roles are eligible for unlimited time off. Employees will also enjoy 10 paid holidays plus two personal flex days throughout the calendar year. Twelve weeks (for birth parents) and 4 weeks (for non-birth parents, including adoptive/foster parents) for paid parental leave will also be available for use after successful completion of 90 days of employment. Individuals may be eligible for different or additional benefits under applicable state law.
