Job Title

SVP Operations, OneSource Lab Solutions

Location(s)

US Remote - MD

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Operations is the global executive leader responsible for the end-to-end operational performance of the OneSource Lab Solutions business. This role oversees the delivery of lab services across manufacturing and R&D environments in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, with responsibility for multi-site, multi-region teams across North America, EMEA, and APAC.

This leader ensures scalable, efficient, and consistent lab service delivery that meets client expectations and compliance requirements, including services performed within QC labs in regulated manufacturing settings. While familiarity with applicable compliance frameworks—especially 21 CFR Part 11—is essential, this is not a regulatory, validation, or quality assurance role. The SVP is first and foremost an operations leader, accountable for performance, people, and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Global Operational Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of laboratory support services globally across client manufacturing and research sites.
  • Define and implement a global operating model that delivers scalable, cost-effective, and high-quality services.
  • Ensure consistency of execution while enabling regional flexibility and responsiveness to local client needs.
  • Manage operational risk and business continuity across all delivery locations.

Customer Partnership & Service Execution

  • Serve as the senior global operations sponsor for key strategic accounts.
  • Translate customer requirements and SLAs into executable operational plans across regions and service lines.
  • Oversee onboarding of new programs and geographic expansions with a focus on continuity and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead customer operational reviews and long-range planning discussions.

Quality, Compliance & Regulatory Alignment

  • Ensure operational alignment with relevant quality and compliance expectations in lab environments (e.g., documentation control, lab support in GMP/GLP settings).
  • Maintain working knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11, with particular focus on electronic records, signatures, and lab system integrity.
  • Partner with Quality and Regulatory counterparts to support inspections and maintain readiness; act as an operational contributor, not a regulatory owner.
  • Promote a culture of compliance, safety, and service integrity without assuming a quality or validation lead role.

Operational Excellence & Digital Enablement

  • Lead operational improvement and standardization efforts using Lean, Six Sigma, and best-practice methodologies.
  • Oversee implementation of digital platforms, automation tools, and data analytics to improve visibility, traceability, and operational performance.
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset across all teams and geographies.

Financial Management & Strategic Planning

  • Own operational budgets, productivity targets, and labor models across global operations.
  • Partner with Finance and Executive Leadership on forecasting, capital planning, and strategic investments.
  • Contribute to business planning, M&A integration, and long-term service strategy development.

Global People Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of global, regional, and site-based operations leaders.
  • Develop leadership talent, succession plans, and team capacity to support future growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, clarity, and inclusion across all levels of the organization.
  • Lead organizational change with agility across different regulatory and cultural environments.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Operations, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in laboratory, technical services, or manufacturing support roles within pharma, biotech, or CDMO environments.

Preferred:

  • Proven success leading multi-site, international service teams in regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 and the operational implications of working in QC or regulated lab settings.
  • Strong customer leadership skills, including experience with enterprise accounts and SLA-based delivery models.
  • Executive-level presence and demonstrated ability to lead through complexity.
  • Experience supporting or managing lab services in manufacturing quality control environments.
  • Exposure to lab informatics, electronic lab notebooks (ELN), LIMS, or digital lab enablement platforms.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or operational excellence credentials.

Success Profile

  • Operational Leadership First: Prioritizes execution, performance, and people—not regulatory interpretation.
  • Compliance-Aware, Not Regulatory-Led: Understands quality and compliance interfaces; collaborates effectively with regulatory partners.
  • Customer-Centric: Acts as the face of delivery to strategic clients.
  • Digital & Scalable Thinking: Comfortable modernizing service models through data and automation.
  • Accountable & Transparent: Drives performance while managing risks and communicating clearly.
