Job Description

The SVP – Governance, Planning & Delivery Practices is a senior leader in the Transformation & Delivery Office (TDO), responsible for setting the operating model, governance, planning, financial management, and delivery standards that support execution of Commercial Insurance’s strategic portfolio. This role leads governance, portfolio planning, budget oversight, delivery practices, change management, and tooling to ensure programs are managed with consistency, transparency, and accountability.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in large-scale transformation, portfolio governance, financial oversight, and delivery excellence in a complex, matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Governance & Portfolio Management: Lead portfolio governance, decision rights, escalation paths, reporting, and accountability. Monitor portfolio health, risks, dependencies, and executive status reporting.
  • Planning Leadership: Define planning standards and lead annual, quarterly, and integrated portfolio planning. Strengthen dependency management, capacity planning, milestone setting, and execution readiness.
  • Financial Management & Budget Oversight: Own TDO budget planning, tracking, forecasting, and reporting. Partner with finance and business leaders to manage spend, variances, and investment decisions.
  • Delivery Practices & Standards: Establish enterprise delivery standards and promote best practices across agile, waterfall, and hybrid models. Drive consistency, predictability, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Tools, Methods & Ways of Working: Set standards for program and portfolio tools, templates, and reporting. Standardize roadmap, backlog, milestone, dependency, and portfolio management practices.
  • Change Management: Define the TDO change management approach and embed adoption planning, communications, and readiness into program delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Advise senior leaders on governance, planning, delivery performance, risks, and investments. Build strong partnerships across business, technology, finance, and operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in program delivery, portfolio governance, transformation, strategic planning, or a related discipline, with significant leadership experience in the property & casualty insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated success establishing governance models, planning processes, delivery standards, and operating rhythms for complex, cross-functional portfolios.
  • Strong experience managing budgets, forecasts, and investment oversight for large strategic initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of program and portfolio management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery approaches.
  • Experience implementing or governing the use of tools such as JIRA and other program planning and portfolio management platforms.
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills in a matrixed environment.
  • Proven ability to drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across large-scale transformation efforts.

The pay range for the role is $200,000 - $250,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
