Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator in the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Costa Rica, and direct supervision of the Project Manager & Protection Specialist, the Senior Project Associate – Protection will be responsible and accountable for supporting the overall management of protection programming.
Independentlyleadandcoordinatetheimplementationoftheproject.Monitorimplementation oftheactivitiestoensureworkisproceedingaccordingtoestablishedplans;analyse implementation difficulties and make recommendationsfor adjustingimplementation modalities and work plans to best reflect changing environment on the field.
Regularly research,follow-up,compile,analyseand presentinformation/dataon national,regional and international developments, reports, legislation and other relevant documentation, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
Monitorbudgetexpenditures by verifyingavailability of funds and maintainingaproperrecord of approved project budgets and their revisions.
Coordinateandmonitorthefinancial,administrativeandtechnicalaspectsoftheprojectinline_withIOMpoliciesanddonorrequirements.
Plan, coordinate and conduct capacity building workshops for relevant internal and external parties.
Participate in meetings and conferences. Maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation(UN) agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, narrative and financial reports. Ensure statusreportsare preparedandsubmittedina timelymanner.
Coordinateandmonitor the integration andmainstreamingofprotection in all CountryOffice´s (CO) projects – includingGender-Based Violence and AbuseResponse (GAVR)– ensuringit is aligned with IOM´s Approach to Protection.
Identify and documentgood practices and lessons learned and contributetothe developmentof StandardOperationsProcedures(SOP),policiesandconceptpapersto supportthe development of new projects.
Superviseandprovideguidanceandtrainingtoreportingstaff.
Performsuchotherrelevantdutiesasmaybeassigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies,HumanRights,Law or a related field from an accreditedacademicinstitution with five years of relevant professional experience; or,
HighSchooldiplomawithsevenyearsofrelevantprofessionalexperience.
Experience
Experienceinliaisingwithgovernmentalauthorities,national/internationalinstitutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations;
ExperienceworkingwithgovernmentalorganizationonCounter-TraffickingandGBV;
Experienceincommunitywork,specifically,withgroupsinvulnerablesituations;
Experiencewithtrainingsandcapacitybuilding;
ExperienceinProjectManagement,includingbudgetcontrol;
ExperiencewiththeUNsystemisanadvantage;
Experience_inworkingwithmigrants,refugees,internallydisplacedpersons,victimsof trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
Priorworkexperiencewithinternationalhumanitarianorganisations,non-governmentor_governmentinstitutions/organisationinamulti-culturalsetting isanadvantage.

Languages
