Job Description

A family in Connecticut is seeking a full-time live-in Housekeeper / Cook to support the daily operations of a well-run household. This is a long-term opportunity for a candidate who is flexible, proactive, detail-oriented, and enjoys maintaining a warm, organized home environment.

The ideal candidate is a true team player with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to seamlessly balance both cooking and housekeeping responsibilities. The family is looking for someone who is comfortable adapting to changing schedules and understands the rhythm of a dynamic household environment.

Cooking responsibilities will primarily focus on preparing healthy, fresh meals for the family, including Mediterranean-inspired dishes featuring fish, chicken, and vegetarian options. Household responsibilities include hands-on housekeeping, laundry, light ironing, organization, and overall upkeep of the home.

The schedule requires a high degree of flexibility. The family guarantees two days off per week, though days off and daily hours will vary based on the family’s needs. Breaks are built into the day, though exact timing may fluctuate week to week. Weekend support will be required at times.

This is a live-in role with a private apartment provided on the property, including a full kitchen, full bathroom, and living space. The family is open to relocation candidates and is focused on finding the right long-term fit.

Responsibilities

• Prepare healthy lunches and dinners for the family approximately 4 times per week.
• Follow recipes accurately and maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment.
• Perform daily housekeeping and overall upkeep of the home.
• Manage laundry, linens, and light ironing.
• Maintain bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and common spaces to a high standard.
• Assist with periodic deep cleaning tasks, including silver polishing and household organization.
• Handle grocery shopping and household errands as needed.
• Assist with light floral arranging and general household presentation.
• Work collaboratively alongside the property manager and other household support.
• Maintain flexibility and proactively support the household where needed.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a private residence as a housekeeper / cook or similar hybrid role.
• Strong cooking skills with comfort preparing Mediterranean-style meals, fish, chicken, and vegetarian dishes.
• Excellent housekeeping and organizational skills.
• Positive attitude with a hands-on, team-oriented mindset.
• Professional, discreet, and highly trustworthy.
• Comfortable working in an active household environment with children present.
• Strong command of English, including the ability to read and execute recipes accurately.
• Long-term mindset and interest in growing with a family over time.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Comfortable driving for work-related errands using the family-provided vehicle.
• Able to lift, carry, and comfortably navigate stairs throughout the home.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Comfortable with a highly flexible schedule, including occasional weekends.
• Able to complete a paid trial period.
• No travel required.

Salary and Benefits

• Competitive annual salary starting around $90,000–$100,000++ DOE, with flexibility for highly experienced candidates.
