ERM is seeking an experienced Managing Consultant / Principal Consultant to lead and grow our EHS & ESG Advisory team in Vietnam.

This leadership role combines project delivery excellence, team management, commercial development, and strategic client engagement across Sustainable Operations (SO), Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), and Corporate Sustainability & Climate Change (CSCC) service areas.

The successful candidate will serve as one of the team leaders, overseeing project execution, resource planning, people development, and business growth. Working closely with ERM Partners and regional technical leaders, you will support the development and delivery of ERM's advisory offerings, build trusted client relationships, and deliver high-impact projects that help organizations manage sustainability risks, create value, and achieve long-term resilience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & People Management

  • Serve as one of the Vietnam EHS & ESG Advisory team leaders across SO, M&A, and CSCC service areas.
  • Manage team utilization, staffing, workload allocation, and resource planning to ensure efficient project delivery and employee development.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop consultants and senior consultants, supporting career growth and technical capability building.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and inclusive team culture aligned with ERM's values.
  • Collaborate with regional technical leaders to strengthen local capabilities and knowledge sharing.
  • For Principal Consultant: Lead a larger multidisciplinary team and contribute to regional organizational development initiatives.

2. Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of complex sustainability consulting projects across Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, risks, quality assurance, and client satisfaction.
  • Provide technical and strategic leadership on projects including:
    • ESG and EHS due diligence for transactions and project finance
    • Supply chain sustainability and responsible sourcing
    • Sustainable operations and operational performance improvement
    • ESG and sustainability strategy development
    • Climate risk assessment and decarbonization planning
    • ESG reporting and disclosure ( primarily IFRS S1/S2, GRI)
    • Double Materiality Assessments
    • ESG performance improvement programs
    • ESG value creation and portfolio sustainability programs
  • Review and provide technical oversight of project deliverables to ensure compliance with ERM quality standards.
  • For Principal Consultant: Lead large-scale, cross-border projects and act as quality reviewer for complex engagements.

3. Business Development & Commercial Leadership

  • Support growth of ERM's EHS & ESG Advisory business in Vietnam through proactive business development activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across priority sectors and accounts.
  • Lead or support proposal development, scope definition, pricing, resource planning, and contract negotiations.
  • Develop account growth strategies and cross-sell ERM's broader sustainability and environmental services.
  • Contribute to annual sales targets and strategic growth initiatives.
  • For Principal Consultant: Lead major pursuits, strategic account development, and key client relationships.

4. Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients and stakeholders.
  • Build long-term partnerships through high-quality project delivery and strategic advisory support.
  • Understand client business objectives and identify opportunities to provide integrated sustainability solutions.
  • Present project findings and recommendations to senior executives, investors, and board-level stakeholders.
  • Support client satisfaction initiatives and continuously improve service delivery.

5. Technical Leadership & Thought Leadership

  • Maintain strong expertise across sustainability, ESG, climate change, sustainable operations, and transaction advisory topics.
  • Stay current with emerging sustainability regulations, reporting frameworks, and market trends.
  • Share knowledge and best practices across ERM's regional and global networks.
  • Contribute to thought leadership publications, webinars, conference presentations, and market-facing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with global practitioners to develop innovative solutions and service offerings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 8-12+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience. Candidates with more experience will be considered for the Principal Consultant Role.
  • Proven track record leading large, complex, and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, key account management, and revenue generation.
  • Significant experience leading teams and developing consulting talent.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities in English and Vietnamese.
  • Strong commercial awareness and business development mindset.
  • Established network within corporate, investor, infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, industrial, or financial sectors is highly desirable.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

  • ESG/EHS due diligence and transaction advisory
  • IFC Performance Standards, ADB Safeguards
  • ESG and sustainability strategy
  • Climate change and decarbonization
  • Sustainable finance and responsible investment
  • Operational sustainability and EHS management systems
  • ESG reporting and disclosure frameworks
  • Private equity and portfolio company sustainability programs
  • Double Materiality Assessments
  • Manufacturing, technology, infrastructure, energy, real estate, or industrial sectors
