The Opportunity

We're seeking a Sustainability Specialist to join our Centre for Sustainability (C4S) team, which supports our Commercial & Industrial customers. Based at St. Kilda Road, this is an opportunity to work directly with major national customers, helping them improve sustainability performance, increase landfill diversion, and unlock resource recovery opportunities.

This is a highly visible role where you'll collaborate with diverse stakeholders, conduct site assessments, develop education programs, and influence positive behavioural change across customer operations. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to innovative sustainability initiatives and help shape resource recovery programs from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support assigned customer accounts in achieving sustainability and resource recovery outcomes aligned to contractual KPIs.
  • Conduct waste audits, site assessments, and waste stream analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop strategic action plans and recommendations to improve sustainability performance and landfill diversion.
  • Deliver tailored education programs, toolbox talks, webinars, and training sessions to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with sustainability managers, procurement teams, site leaders, and operational stakeholders to implement initiatives and influence change.
  • Prepare detailed reports and insights on program performance, opportunities, and outcomes.
  • Identify education gaps and support continuous improvement across customer sites.

About You

You are passionate about sustainability and resource recovery, enjoy building relationships, and can confidently influence stakeholders at all levels. You're proactive, solutions-focused, and motivated by creating tangible environmental impact.

You'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Experience within sustainability, resource recovery, waste management, environmental services, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data, identify improvement opportunities, and develop practical recommendations.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel nationally as required. Travel is typically around once per month and may include interstate visits to customer sites.
