Job Purpose:

  • To assist Senior Sustainability Manager with the design, implementation and monitoring of China sustainability roadmap, in close collaboration with different stakeholders from both internal and external.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Project Management & Governance

  • Own end-to-end project management for key local sustainability initiatives across all ESG pillars.Ensure on-time, on-budget and high-quality delivery by rigorously managing scope, timeline and resources.
  • Drive project transparency through proactive communication, regular dashboard updates, and robust monitoring and verification.Employ a data-driven approach to develop internal sustainability communication and insights.
  • Continuously assess project context, identify resource/capability gaps, and adapt plans to ensure priority projects are executed ready.
  • Evaluate market nuances, change impacts, and interdependencies across initiatives with a holistic lens, directly contributing to the acceleration of Chanel China’s sustainability roadmap.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration to identify sustainability opportunities and conduct comprehensive business process assessments.

Sustainability Culture & Engagement

  • Cultivate and energize the internal Sustainability Community (e.g. Council, Retail ambassadors) through hybrid formats.
  • Strategically lead internal sustainability programs, including workshops, seminars, and impactful activities.
  • Oversee internal sustainability communications across multiple channels (e.g. newsletters, internal platforms) to inspire awareness and action.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive sustainability learning initiatives, such as Climate Fresk workshop and local learning platform/content.

Sustainability Intelligence & Ecosystem Building

  • Monitor and analyze evolving global and local sustainability/ESG policies, regulations, trends and best practices to inform strategy
  • Build and leverage a local network with industrial associations, technical consultants, social organizations, charity partners, academic professionals, governmental entities, etc.

Person Specifications:

Academic / Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Economics, Business Administration, or a related field that combines technical and economic disciplines. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of key ESG concepts, including GHG accounting (Scope 1, 2, 3), decarbonization technologies, global reporting frameworks (ISSB, CSRD, TCFD, GRI, SASB), circularity framework, value chain human right, community engagement, etc.

Work Experience

  • 7+ years of professional experience in sustainability and/or related fields, a combination of both corporate in-house experience and consulting experience will be a plus
  • Demonstrated success in building consensus, facilitating cross-departmental collaboration, and ability to engage, influence and communicate complex sustainability concepts clearly across multiple levels.
