Job Description

Microsoft’s Energy, Connectivity, and Sustainability (ECS) organization within Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) supports the company’s environmental sustainability agenda through governance, market development, and enabling infrastructure required for long-term business growth. 

As AI and cloud infrastructure continue to scale globally, customers are increasingly seeking clarity on the environmental impacts associated with digital infrastructure—including energy use, water consumption, and lifecycle emissions. These topics are becoming a regular component of enterprise customer conversations and procurement decision-making. 

The Sustainability Commercial Enablement Manager will sit within CELA ECS and support Microsoft’s commercial functions by helping translate Microsoft’s sustainability commitments and progress into business-relevant narratives that can be used in customer engagements. This role will contribute to internal readiness by supporting field teams in addressing customer questions related to the resource intensity of AI and cloud technologies and the environmental impacts associated with digital infrastructure growth.

Responsibilities

Commercial Engagement Support 

  • Support Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) account teams in preparing for sustainability-related customer engagements, including Executive Briefing Center (EBC) sessions and strategic account meetings. 
  • Participate in customer meetings as appropriate to communicate Microsoft’s sustainability commitments and progress related to infrastructure growth. 
  • Assist internal stakeholders in addressing customer questions related to the environmental impacts of cloud and AI technologies, including emissions, energy use, and water consumption. 

Customer-Facing Content Development 

  • Develop and tailor sustainability-focused presentation materials for use in customer engagements, industry briefings, and executive meetings. 
  • Prepare briefing documents and talking points for internal leaders participating in sustainability-focused customer discussions. 
  • Maintain customer-ready sustainability engagement assets aligned with approved corporate messaging frameworks developed by the CELA Environmental Sustainability team. 

Field Enablement 

  • Collaborate with MCAPS stakeholders to support sustainability-related seller readiness in conversations related to AI and infrastructure growth. 
  • Contribute to internal briefings and readiness materials that prepare field teams for customer conversations regarding the environmental impact of Microsoft’s digital infrastructure. 
  • Support scalable approaches to sustainability engagement across regions and industries. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner with internal stakeholders across Sustainability, Marketing, Public Affairs, and Commercial teams to align sustainability messaging with evolving customer priorities related to AI and cloud adoption. 
  • Support ECS efforts to scale sustainable markets and infrastructure in ways that enable broader digital infrastructure growth.

Qualifications

Minimum / Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree AND 6+ years work experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR), philanthropies, corporate affairs, government affairs, business and international development, or related area
    • OR Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years work experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR), philanthropies, corporate affairs, government affairs, business and international development, or related area
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred 

  • Experience developing customer-facing or executive-level presentation materials. 
  • Ability to communicate sustainability or technical topics in a clear, business-relevant manner. 
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with corporate sustainability topics such as carbon accounting, renewable energy, or emissions reduction strategies. 
  • Experience supporting enterprise customer engagements (e.g., briefings, workshops, or executive meetings). 
  • Experience supporting internal enablement or readiness efforts. 

Corporate Social Responsibility IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $132,200 - $258,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,800 - $278,900 per year.
